I only ask because I stupidly left my phone on the bus and I haven't seen it since. I've tried phoning it but it's going straight to voicemail. It's not that great a phone so I doubt it could sell for much. If it was a wallet with wads of cash, I could understand people keeping it, but a phone. What would you do? Be honest.

I wouldn't hand it to the driver (I wouldn't trust them). If the phone was switched on I'd try searching through the phone book to see if there is a 'Mum' or 'Dad' I could contact. If it is switched off I'd hand it into the local Police station. I could never keep something that isn't mine. It's just not right and I'd hope that if I ever lost my phone and someone found it, they'd have the decency to do the right thing.
I couldn't keep cash either. I once found money in a car park; I couldn't keep it so I put it in our local air ambulance's charity box. I thought is was a fair thing to do.

I suggest this reverse phone lookup service: http://reversephone.toptips.org

It's a cheap service that works great!
It could be used for a much deeper search. You can use it to get hold of different varieties of background reports, and in addition cell numbers, addresses and names..
you can get unlimited reports... I ran with this because I required to verify more numbers. You can get the name, other phone number, address history, relatives, and much more about anyone!
The completly free reverse phone lookup generally doesn't provide anything interesting. To get interesting information, money will must be paid. The free searches don't provide considerably more than what may be found through the phone directory.
The reverse phone detective search tool does work, but you should use just the service that I posted above. The last thing you want to do, is pay for a service and find the numbers you want to lookup are not available in their directory.
The service that I reccomend doesn't have any kind of problem , you won't get any bad surprise!

I'd either turn it in to the driver or see if there was a number in the phone I could call so I could bring it back myself. Probably would be the driver though; maybe I'm a trusting person but I wouldn't for a moment think he'd keep it, and that way I wouldn't have the hassle of either arranging for a pickup or getting it wrapped and bringing it to the post office.

I wouldn't give it to the bus driver, as the person who left it behind would be highly unlikely to find the same driver the next time they boarded the bus on that route. I would, however, hand it in to the manager of the bus depot that was most convienient for me to reach and obviously say which bus I'd found it on. Perhaps you should try the bus company's HQ; you never know, someone may restore your confidence in mankind! (It gives you a really good feeling when that happens - good luck!).

The same thing happened to me! i left my phone on the bus and someone handed it to the driver and i rang my phone and the driver answered..and i got it back in the end.
even though i hated that phone

first thing to do is ring the network and they can block the phone, this happened to me once and luckily someone handed me it back, a few days later. I was quite annoyed because i had blocked my phone and had to wait 2 more weeks for a new simcard to arrive!

I was probably lucky in getting my phone back though, i doubt if i did it again that i would be so lucky. If i found a mobile i would ring the last person dialled and tell them that i had found the phone and give them my details to give to the owner.

I'd either hand it in, or call one of the numbers stored on it and ask them who had lost their phone. But I don't really want another mobile, there are people who do, and they might be dishonest enough to keep it.

Send them a text, saying "You were recorded on CCTV when you took my phone, it's only a matter of time.."

Might not do any good, but will worry them and make you feel better

Try calling the bus company and state where and when you left it, they'll have records of who was driving the bus at the time, I wouldn't be surprised if the driver kept it for himself, if indeed, it was an honest person who found the phone and handed it in, personally I'd keep the phone till the person who lost it called then arrange to get it back to them.

I would not hand it to the driver but the Bus Stations desk. I'm sure they get many things handed to them every week.
