Can't keep anything down longer than 20 minutes, including pepto. I don't think my body can do well to fight this if I'm dehdrated and half-starved.

Hey stever, since you've asked, my entire digestive tract is malfunctioning, to delicately answer your Q...yes. I've been able to sip ice chips with some smooth OJ mixed in(almost a sno-cone) and I'm getting stronger by the hour. It's good to be Irish.

the best thing to do is to keep trying to put liquids like water, Gatorade and fruit juice down you. try also chicken broth and a cracker or two. It will probably keep coming up, but you have to keep trying. If you cannot keep anything down at all for more than 24 hours you MUST go see a doctor or to the emergency room, for help. they can put you on iv fluids and keep you hydrated. good luck

You know, I had the same problem as you. I kept Vomiting up my meals. This was just 2 days ago.
Then, I found out that I had.............

(( Gastroenteritis ))

I hate to ask you this but, do you also have Diarrhea ?
Because if you have "Gastroenteritis" normally you'll have both, 'Vomiting and Diarrhea like I had 2 days ago.
Still,,,,, have not gotten fully over the Up-Set Stomach part. Gotta be careful how much I eat or I'll gagg.

Look it up.

There is really no such ailment as stomach flu, you know. The flu doesn't cause you to barf or get diarrhea. True flu is a respiratory ailment. The major cause of your type of stomach/digestive ailment is a bacterial infection, usually from food. It can also be spread from one person to another, if they are ailing, and kindly share their bacteria by contaminating something that gets to your mouth. So your flu shot is not the culprit. It really doesn't matter at this point what the particular bacterial culprit is, the cure is the same. First, you must stop eating, and drink clear liquids for the next 24 hours. Diarhea is not your enemy here, it's the body's first line of defense. It cleans house of the nasty gerbies causing all the trouble in the first place, so the last thing you want to be doing is plugging matters up so it's all bottled up inside you. And by eating, all you are doing is feeding the gerbies, so they can make more gerbies. The diarrhea has also removed the good gerbies you need for normal digestion, which is why you are experiencing the excessive air movement. That and you are essentially empty, except for the burping gerbies in your gut. Yeah, they eat, make babie gerbies, and burp. You say gas, they call it breathing. Anyway, if you stick with the clear liquids- your choice there, except no alcohol- the diarhea will stop soon. The gas will pass- no pun intended there, honestly. And the stomach cramps will also go away. Do not drink milk, or eat any kind of dairy product. You no longer have the good gerbies to digest it, and it will really just make matters worse- undigested milk and dairy travel through the system like- well it involves geese, you get the picture. Anyway, after a day of liquid, you get to step up to bananas, white rice, apples/applesauce, and white bread/crackers. All you want, plus clear liquids. Day three you can introduce no fat broth, and bland stuff. No garlicky, hot pepper, chili stuff- your innards can't take it just yet. On day four, you want to eat bland, but can add a carton of live culture yogurt, flavor your choice. That starts replacing the good gerbies you need. No other dairy, at this point though. Next day have another carton, and gradually start easing back into a regular diet. Just try to avoid stuff like extra pepperonis on the pizza. And the next day, you can start in the dairy again, providing there are no complaints from the innards. If you do not follow this advice, and persist in taking the pepto, what you will end up with is a serious belly ache and gas to put yourself out with. And cramps. If you quit feeding the gerbies and let your body to what it is designed to do, you will feel much better. Your ailment is simple, it's something you ate- exactly what, we'll never know. It just wasn't something that agreed with you. It happens to us all, sooner or later. Kitchen cleanliness and food sanitation are important, so are clean hands to eat with. Because, yeah- you could have just as easily done it to yourself, if you forgot to wash your hands before you ate. From whatever you touched to your mouth, and voila- stomach ailment.

Dehydration is your main concern. Until stabilized, take in no solids, just very small sips of water or gatorade.

This worked for my son when he was two years old and had gastroenteritis. If it worked for him, it will work for you.

Drink Gatorade. DO NOT, under any circumstances, drink water or juice. Water makes you throw up right away.
