I'm not Christian, I'm a Deist guy, but I ask this question seriously. Is it OK to think for yourself and say: "Well...I don't agree with the bible on this", or must your thinking & logic be only within this book?

God gave us free will. When we love Him and read His word, He wants us to be genuine and for real about it. So, yeah, dig! Question. Go to church and learn. Do it with a spongy mind!

If you don't ask questions, how can you find the answers? I am a Christian and have questioned different parts of the Bible. In my experience, they have been answered - some quickly, some over time. There is nothing wrong with doubt. As one pastor said, "Doubt is faith growing up. It's not sin. Unbelief is sin." Unbelief is a refusing to believe. It's a hardening of the heart that refuses to even hear what the God says in His word, both written and spoken. There's a difference between doubt and unbelief. The Bible is very logical and I have realized in my own personal experience the things it says are true. Don't be afraid to question! Be afraid of not having an open mind or "ears to hear" what Bible says.

You're absolutely right. Think for yourself...always!

Question anything that doesn't make sense to you. We are told by our religious leaders to accept the 'mysteries' of faith. That's because 'they' DON"T KNOW the answers.

My feelings about the Bible are that:

1. the stories have been handed down for millennia through hundreds - maybe thousands - of people, some of whom may not have been very bright.
2. multiple interpretations over the years change the meaning of words
3. The data has been filtered through the minds of, probably, some pretty goofy people over the years.
4. Most important. The teachings of Jesus Christ give people great power. With all that power, why do people even need a Churches? In order to survive, then, churches have been altering the Bible's teachings for hundreds of years.

Research this for yourself.

BTW, I firmly believe that there is a Higher Power.

Good Luck

It is very important to question - otherwise, you might be deceived. Esspecially when it comes to listening to a pastor/priest - always check him or her out in the Word - " If it doesn't fit, you must dump it", thats what I always say.
As far as the Bible goes, I study in the original manuscripts, so if something in the Bible has been tampered with, or a translation is wrong, it sticks out like a sore thumb.
If something doesn't make sense to you, or if it seems like God is being unfair, etc; you need to look deeper - thats a flag that something is not right. You are very wise to question.
Never blindly go along with whatever is being said, or how someone is interpreting the Bible.
Stay away from alot of the nonsense being written, and most importantly, stay away from the total bulllshit in alot of the websites being offered to look at, in this forum.
example: The Noahs Ark one. Its straight from satan himself.

There is no inerrant text of The Bible surviving today... The Bible dose contain What God has preserved for each individual if the individual is open to the leading of The Holy Spirit in the study.... The Bible dose not "prove God... God Proves The Bible...There is nothing in The Bible of The True Christian Faith for the non-believer. The Bible in not intended for any one not open to the leading of The Holy Spirit.

I question a lot about the bible. Some Christians get ugly with me while others are accepting of my questions. I have read the bible and there's nowhere it is said that is a sin. Even if there could have been, we would still question the very same assertion!

No, I question verses in the Bible all the time. I am not too proud to admit that I have not acquired the sum of all knowledge. Because I don't understand something, doesn't mean that the statement isn't valid. It can also mean that I just don't understand it. When this happens, I try to find the answer.
Have I found all the answers yet? Not even close.

im a christian and i dont think it is wrong at all. actually i think it's a good thing to question it, that way you actually read and understand what it really means. christians should study and look into all aspects of the book and determine what they truly believe. you could take a hundred people and tell them all to read the same verse of the bible and they could all come up with a different interpretation. so I think we should all keep an open mind.

Your thinking and logic need not necessarily be restricted to the Bible and only the Bible... but some people consider questioning the reliability of the Bible to equate the sin of unbelief, the gravest of all sins.

You are asking a question that you have already answered for yourself. their are practices that humans have evolved to use to understand things. I'm a christian and use the word evolve can you believe that wow.The only way we learn is to ask the question why. Sometimes it can be dangerous but its in our nature to grow.God has installed this in us. Here's something for you. Ten commands of Law weren't enough for humanity to live in the will of the creator. Justice mercy, compassion and faith. By Jesus sacrifice on the cross he has not abolished the law but fulfilled it. By this i mean when he ascended to heaven he sent the Holy Spirit which enters those who receive him. This spirit which entwines itself in Christians convicts them with its presence of wrong doing. That's why when Christians make mistakes in life they repent and try to correct their ways. Bewares some who proclaim they are Christians are actually a secret society of Satanism. This is one question why which is dangerous it is large organization and tries to enforce secrecy. Hitler use to burn books. Jesus Christ is God my Friend seek him while he can be found. God Bless.
