Recruits (they are NOT Marines yet!!) are not allowed to call home short of MAJOR emergencies during their cycle of training - there is NO email contact. Occasionally if the recruit's platoon performs well, the recruits are allowed a short call home. Recruits are allowed up to 4 hours to attend religious services on Sundays and Holidays. They are allowed 1 hour extra "personal" time if they do not go to church on Sundays. Recruits are allowed to receive mail after they are assigned to their training company. They are allowed to write as many letters as they can manage during their 1 hour of personal time each day. Please be aware that your man is stressed, busy, homesick, confused, and misses home and family terribly. Write as often as you can. They don't 'have to great letters. The familiarity of everday life at home and the reassurance of your love are fantastic morale boosters. Try to write at least every other day. Be aware, that the mail delivery is sometimes not the best, so if your man doesn't answer some things it is probably because he hasn't received a specific letter. Remember, he is really busy, so be patient. The more you can reassure him that things are fine with you at home (even if they aren't) that better off he'll be. Don't burden him with whining, whimpering, and complaints, it will just stress him out even more especially since he can't t do a thing to help you. I don't know if you are married or not, but if you are just bf/gf don't write him a breaup letter while he is training OK. Good Luck

The Recruiter did not tell you the truth. When my husband went to boot he wasn't able to email at all, there was no computer access. This might have changed as he went though 6 years ago. He can call for like 15 min a time on sundays. Again this might have changed.

Boot camp is very very difficult and I think your man is being put through an awful lot at the moment. I've read memoirs of real life military servicemen who described their experiences in boot camp and it is really tough. Can you imagine running a marathon every day for the next 3 months? Multiply that with 10, and that is what boot camp is like. Do you have an address to post letters to your man? I think it would be a good idea to do so coz he could be low on morale and receiving a letter from you will lift his spirits. I hope that you'll hear from him soon, Tiffany. I wish you and your man all the best and God bless you all!

Depends on their duties. I had Sundays off in Navy basic training. What that meant that was once the barracks were spotless and my gear was squared away and I passed inspection I could read the newspaper, go to church service or make calls to home. We did not have email then. Sometimes if the Company screws up during the week then there is no play time on Sunday.

no you are able to not bypass everywhere. maximum bases have a Liberty Mileage reduce. I actually have seen it as low as 25 miles and as severe as 350 miles. this may decision through the position you're in the tutorial pipeline, your duties even command discretion. also you are able to not assure weekends off.. both anybody or some. some jobs must be manned 24/7. or your shift rotation would advise you've tues and Wed off yet paintings all weekend.

In boot camp, they get Sunday off to rest, write letters, study, clean their uniforms, etc. I remember my first few weeks. Most of it was getting settled in, geting uniforms, dental checks, shots, etc. Once we got assigned to our company for the duration, we had time for letters/phone calls. After boot, and outside a combat zone, Marines work normal working hours. They may have to stand some duty on weekdays, but like other branches, they get weekends off (IF they don't have 'the duty').
As far as "that really isn't saying much", lighten up. He's there for INTENSIVE TRAINING that may save his life, and someon else's life, some day. Women today have it great as far as being in contact with their miiltary man. I remember having mail take 10-14 days to get to us away from port. No such thing as phonecalls at sea and emails! I was in Antarctica for 13 months and for 7 of those months, NO MAIL. We could send a 100 word ham-gram (like a telegram, but it goes by ham-patch to someone in the states who mails it on to the recipient). For over 6 weeks, we got no ham-grams and no phone ham-patches due to sun spot activity. So when I or my wife here women whining about, MY HUSBAND IS AT SEA AND I HAVEN'T GOTTEN AN EMAIL FROM HIM IN 3 DAYS..WAAAAAAA they get NO sympathy from us. I spent 6 weeks recently at the Naval Air Station Sigonella, Sicily, and my wife and I could IM each other for about 1/2 hour a day, but always send emails. I could acess my email accounts, but due to the time difference, I only had a little over 1/2 hour before the base rec center there closed after she got home back here. I was on line once and one of the kids in my Sunday school class saw my name on and said MR. ED! YOU'RE HOME NOW! It took her calling my wife before she believed I was still in Sicily.
