i teach grade 9 and 10 at a local high school. Somtimes i find kids are becoming more imature than mature. I am going to scream if i have to walk by another set of desks and find a boy or girl discussing a) how horny they are and b) personal details about their sexual habits. I always pretend to ignore, but they don't even care that their teacher is standing right there. This kind of stuff never would have been an issue when i was in school (and I'm only 30). What is it with kids these days that they have to talk like this in class and what should I do?

When you catch them doing this, challenge them with "that's not an appropriate topic for this class" and either let it go or separate them to opposite sides of the room. Be fair, firm and consistent with this and they will eventually come around. If you let them slide, then you are just allowing them to continue to disrespect you.
