I'm a junior and i have to say it was very annoying growing up. Phone calls and mail were always a pain to sort out since you never really knew who it was for. I'd advise against it

by making him a (jr.) you have told him he already should be just like daddy, by making him a (II) you have told him he is not the first, so why not give him 2 middle names so that he has a choice when he is older. women are able to change their names thru marriage , men are stuck with the names parents give them, i am named after my father ,but have different middle names, which i'm glad of , i never liked being called jr. and i am a different person than my father, even tho i am my fathers son in many many ways, think it thru some more, i think your on the right track by getting input from others, good luck & god bless

Only at tax time, especially if once your son is grown and receives his father's income tax check (which happened to my ex who is the third while his dad is junior) and spends it! My ex father in law was really mad when he found out!
But I think it's good to want to honor the dad by naming the son after him.

I think as long as you have a plan for what to call him in order to differentiate between the two of them - which you do - then it's fair enough. (My dad, for instance, is named after his father but was always called by his middle name).

I think that kids should not be named after your parents. They might not like the idea of it and I'm sure no one likes it when the mother would yell JOHN!, and they both go what? at the same time and get confused.

Every child needs his own identity. try to give it to him. Let him feel he is equally important as his dad or mom and a member of the household. Doesnt matter what word the name starts with.

I don't see why not. If that's the name that you want want for your son to have, then that's the name that he should have. I truly believe that our names are special and given to us for a reason.

I think that sometimes its to confusing. I have family who have done it, and its confusing especially for phones calls, and mail and such. I personally went with using dads name as my sons middle name, that way he is still unique.

There's nothing wrong with that at all. It's a wonderful way to carry on the family name.
