I don't want to bash him. I don't think Chistians should be angry with him. It seems that many are saying he was a well respected leader. But the more I hear what he said and did, even before he was caught in his affair/drug scandal, I don't see him as someone who would be well respected, atleast in the Christian circles I run in. HBO is highlighting religous leaders who seem to be kinda out there. It seems that the media fccuses on the kinda wierd Christian groups who are not really respected by most evangelical Christians. What he did is newsworthy but his story gets run up alittle too much.

After typing in "largest evangelical church in America" to google, I don't think it is or ever was Ted Haggard's church.

I never heard of him before that but I tend to stay away from the televangelists and I am not impressed with a religious leader just because they hang out with presidents and kings.
I think that regardless of whether or not he was a good teacher or how he was looked at before this broke, because he called himself Christian, the media and others will have a field day with it because many like to lump all christians in the same catergory and exploit those who fall and are imperfect as we all are .

I had never heard of him before the scandal. Christians do have a right to be angry with him because he is disgracing the church.
As far as the media goes, they do as much as they can to make sure Christianity looks like a bunch of self-serving evil hypocrite bigots. And that certainly is the perception among unbelievers that dont even know any true believers. The liberal media has turned against the church because they love this world more than God and want to make into into their own sick twisted secular sespool.

i does no longer understand Ted Haggard if I stumbled over him in an empty container with a Ted Haggard signal with a image identity tied round his neck. besides the undeniable fact that, those scandal-mongers want to be de-frocked or regardless of that is suggested as for solid. If he repents, he can stay as area of the church, yet no more beneficial ministry.

I wasn't familiar with Ted Haggard. I think these TV evangelist types are fake anyway. Look at Joel Osteen...HUGE church service in a stadium. I watched some of him last night and realized that He didn't reference ONE SINGLE BIBLE VERSE through the entire sermon! Just this touchy feely ear tickling fluff. Sickens me to think that so many think he's the cat's meow. He never even went to seminary. People want to feel "good" now adays more than they want truth.

I had never heard of him before, personally. He might have been respected and well-known in his own church, but certainly not on a national level.

I knew who he was before the scandal. After his interview by Barbara Walters, I started to suspect something wasn't quite right with his doctrine.

I'd only heard of him because he used to shill for his brother Merle before concerts. Met him once, and he seemed like a decent type.
