I found a recipe for Chicken Enchilchilada Soup and it calls for something called masa harina. What is that?

Thank you Sheena. Can I get this at a normal grocery store?

Masa harina is a specially prepared corn flour used in Mexican cooking to make corn tortillas, tamales and other corn-based doughs. It is available in most large supermarkets in 5 lb bags (just as regular flour would come.)

It's a ground corn flour. Depending on your area, it could be sold near the flour or in the Mexican/Hispanic foods section. It's in a bag similar to all-purpose flour. I can find it at my local Safeway. In your case, the masa harina will be the thickener for the soup.
