I've been feeling pretty sad and depressed for a while now. I've heard that exercising and being active can boost your mood. Or eating fruits can also. Does anybody have any other good tips like these to make me feel happier? Best answer gets 10 points ASAP. Thanks

Some of the things you can do is to get active. You have to force yourself because of your depression it won't be easy. You want to start by cleaning up your cave. You know your go away and hide from the world place. It can either be your room, your office your garage your car where ever it is start by cleaning it up. The reason that it is in chaos right now is because you feel like your sinking and your life is in chaos right now. Then you want to go to a place where there are people around you. Maybe not your friends house, I'm talking like the mall or wal-mart. It sounds dumb but just being around other people helps, you don't have to know them just be around them. Listen while you are wandering around. You will hear all about other people's lifes good and bad. As far as eating, usually when you are depressed you lose or gain wieght. But either way check it out. You want to stay away from heavy foods for a while. The ones that hit you gut like a rock and make you take a nap. Sleeping come to think about it is another one. Just taking a stab is your normal sleep patern messed up, I bet it is. Stop taking naps and sleeping in late, or staying up late. Get yourself on a regular sleep patern. All these things I'm talking about are normal signs of depression. So you are not alone at all. I have wrestled with this problem my entire life. And all my friends will say "oh come on pat what's the matter just snap out of it" what they don't get is I WISH I COULD. Then I get even more depressed because I can't just snap out of. Then I get more depressed because I'm not like everyone else. See how it snowballs into a even greater depression. Look anything I say won't make you feel any better. Anything anybody does wont make you feel better. You have to make you (fake) feeling better. Because all these things I'm talking about doing aren't the magic pill and suddenly you feel better. What happens is very slowly upon you forcing yourself to get up and do them, will the change happen. Remember that right now your subconscience is not wanting you to do them. It wants you to take a nap or just lay around the house and mope around all day in your pajama's. You will have to get out of your comfort zone and start doing it. Good Luck and Trust Me, I know exactly where you are coming from.

True depression is a medical condition that can best be treated with the proper medications prescribed by your doctor. If the condition continues or worsens see your doctor.

There is a mountain of things you can do to increase brain serotonin. Walking, running or other strenuous exercise can help a lot. Music can help too. Be sure to eat right as your general health also effects your state of mind. Keeping busy can help too.

Avoid alcohol and drugs unless specifically prescribed by your doctor. There is really no telling what is in a street drug. You can also get severe interaction issues from drugs if you don't know what you are doing.

When all else fails, refer to my first paragraph.
