I believe there is God because a simple explanation would be that you believe there's oxygen but you have never seen it before. So you have faith that there are some things in the world that you haven't seen or heard but you still believe they are there, I believe there won't be anyone crazy enough to write a book as the bible for nothing.

dont mean to get really heavy and stuff but everyone has their own beliefs about who or what they see or call 'god'. basically what im trying to say and not doing very well at the moment is that the real truth is all about LOVE. you can call it whatever you like and dress it up as many ways as you like but it all comes down to love. that's the real truth. if only we could all practise it just a little bit more the terrible cliche of 'the world would be a much better place' would certainly apply. We are all here to learn and progress and to become better people,if we knew all the answers to all the great mysteries there would be no point. Keep striving and reaching ahead, keep believing in a higher being whether it be God,Allah,Bhuddah etc. You will be rewarded for your faith and dedication.

No-one can tell you the 'real truth' heather. That's just something you have to find out for yourself.
You say you go to church. You believe. And yet you wonder if there is a god? About the bible's authenticity? Honey, you have some serious doubts there! Perhaps you need to look elsewhere?
There is (I think) no ONE truth. No single path. There are more books and websites out there than you can count. And people on here who will be happy to answer questions. So use them!
And as for doubt, that's natural! I quote "such a state of exalted joy may last for varying periods, but it is bound to cease. The inflow of light and love is rhythmical, as is everything else in the universe." Robert Assagioli in 'Spiritual Emergency'
Blessings and good luck on your journey.

Well I was a Christian most of my life and was taught it was the only way. Since I had a very spirtual experience (one that the Bible or Christianity has nothing about) I became an agnostic and searched for answers to what I experienced. Finally I found Paganism and it was a perfect fit. Makes more sense and fits what my beliefs about God are.
Since I left Christianity and became a Pagan I have been closer to God and my trust has grown. It is not a move I will ever regret.
My point is Christianity is not the only way as they would like you to believe.

i personally have my own views about god.maybe he does exist maybe not but if believing in god makes some ppl feel better about themselves & the world we live in its their choice.as for the bible, well i have only just come back from my mam & dads & we were discussing the very subject.the bible is written by many ppl over a long period of time, stories get past down through the generations & you've got to admit that man has a very vivid imagination & start adding little bits to stories here & there to make them more exciting.
the bible is only a book that tells a story so i don't understand why ppl have to insist it is essential that ppl abide by what is said in it or else they are sinners.
they are words, words don't hurt there is no magic or miracle in words.
to me religion is the worst thing in the existence of mankind cos every single war that ever was has been based on religion & the power it has over certain ppl.

God does not exist. The bible was a group of stories written by several different people, (if you don't believe me, check out the fact that they are written in several different "persons" i.e. he, you, I etc). Jesus was nothing more than an ordinary person who could communicate in an extraordinary way and gain support from the population because of it (yes I do believe Jesus existed, but as nothing more than that I have written). Religion has been written, then finely tuned to support the needs of the church who wish for nothing more than power and wealth. If that's not the case, then why does the Vatican hold one of the largest collections of art etc., in the world, yet not share it with the public? Why do you have to give money at the end of every service you attend? Remove religion from the world and you remove (in my opinion) at least 50% of the problems between men.

Heather the best thing to do would be to get a Bible as near to the original texts as possible. God does protect his word though so in your normal Bible you will get the main jist of what the truth is. God hasn't put in the criteria to be saved that I must be an intellectual giant and so the same goes for everyone. Jesus is your aim and you are his. Pray and ask for an understanding of truth in Jesus. I'm sure he will help.

I agree with Ray J. I'm sure the Universe (or universes) was created by some super omnipotent being, or beings, but I don't think we matter to the creator. We are just like some microbes in a petrie dish - some experiment that was probably forgotten about millions of our years ago. Could just be last week to them. I have yet to see any evidence of a loving god or"God is Love" crap. I do appreciate the miracle and beauty of nature but to me that's part of the same "experiment"

I don't know where you are going to church but there is at least one of the two problems below that you are suffering from..
1. Your church doesn't teach Christ or tie His mission to what is said about Him in the Old Testament. Or/And
2. You aren't listening. You see church as a social event and don't care what is being taught...
By the way you are speaking, you are having this same problem in school... Jim
