I would like to buy a point n shoot digital camera and i've settled for canon. some of their cameras come with a battery pack, basically a rechargeable battery and also the charger. But, some come with AA batteries.. i'm not sure as to which one is better.. cos i feel that a camera with AA batteries would require too many battery replacements every now and then. So does anyone have a review on this ?

If you get rechargable AA batteries you would only need to buy a charger and maybe 1 or 2 sets of batteries. Some charges come with a set of batteries. If you just used regular batteries you would waste alot of money. Digital cameras (especially if they have a LCD display) eat batteries.

Rechargable AA bateries. I have 3 diffrent sets and 1 is spicifically for cameras. I got that set at christmas time this year (well before christmas) They have been in my camera since I got them. I have used my camera a lot between then and now. They came with a charger. I think it was $19.99 (i'm not positive as it was a gift) The batteries are Energizer rechargable 2500mAh. You can buy double A rechargable batteries.

rechargable. well worth the money. with regular batteries, you go through them in 1 day! i got a Cannon, and the first day, the batteries died. luckily, i bought a package from Walmart that had a camera case, 4 batteries, a charger, and a SD card sleeve. it's a Kodak brand, and was only $19.00. well worth the money, considering you spend $20 on just the batteries and charger alone in some places. i also recommend getting a 1 gig memory card. there is tons of room in it. charge all the batteries, put 2 in the camera, and carry the others around in the case. the batteries will last you a long time, depending on the camera use.

i think either the battery pack or rechargable battery is fine. both are most likely Ni-Mh. now, it will only use up A LOT of batteries if you use the regular alkaline AA batteries. when you're using a device that sucks up a lot of power, you want to use Ni-Mh which is nickel metal hydride, somehting liek that. when buying Ni-mh you want to look for a high amount of mAh. it's on the battery. around 2000 is good. if you used alkaline, you would probably be able to take 10 shots. with a Ni-Mh, probably 60+, in my experience at least. you can use teh Ni-mh batteries for years. thus, AA batteries or battery pack, shouldnt really matter. youll have to carry around a charger anyways. another thing to look at is, if you buy a battery pack, youll have to carry around 2ither a second battery(probalby expensive) or just say 2-4 extra AA NiMH batteries- probably under 10 bucks. if you lose the battery pack, youll have to order a new one or buy it for a more expensive price. i like AA if it's NiMh. make sure your mAh is high

While you can buy a rechargeable Lithium-ion battery in the AA package, you cannot use them on your AA powered camera, or you will damage your camera. The voltage of the AA Lithium-ion batteries are way too high (3.6v), vs 1.5V for Alkaline and 1.25V for Ni-MH batteries in the AA size.

Whether its a cell phone you have to recharge it.
and anything you have that has to be rechargeable
I have always like batteries that you have to recharge
yes it may cost more but in the end of 5 or 6 years all you
do is recharge and that is a saving of money on regular batteries
money that can go somewhere else.

Rechargeable if you use your camera on a regular basis.

Alkaline if you do not.

The reason is that if you leave rechargeable sit they lose about 3% of their charge every day. When you go to use them they may be dead. Alkaline will maintain a full charge for several years.

I love rechargeable for my regular use items but use alkaline for my sporadic use products.
