So far, in all Yahoo Q and A, a best answer wil be selected for a question asked. The answer can be selected by the answer or the Yahoo community. It will also win 10 points for the best answer. The person who selected also gain 3 points.

My question is this. More often then not, there will always be more than one good answer to each question ask.

Do you think the asker or the Yahoo community should be allowed to select more than one best answer. Or perhaps they can select the best answer, followed by the second best answer and the third respectively. The first can get 10 points, the second 5 points and the third 3 points. I feel in this way, it will be more fair.

Do you think Yahoo should revamp the Q and A?

Yahoo Q and A is constantly in the process of being changed and improved. Put in your request, who knows, maybe one of the revisions they make will be what you suggest!

Do take note though, that it is indeed true that often there are more than one really good answer, it's also true that the questioner often doesn't choose the best answer as "best answer"! Same with voters. It's all subjective.

I would go the other way...

The Asker could pick the first best answer that worked...
That is the asker would vote only when the answer given was used and worked..

The Asker would not be able to chose a best answer until the community had finished voting..

The community would then help the Asker chose the best answer ...

This would work better because some answers look right but may crash a system or have other ill effects..

The Asker would be better server by waiting for the community to chose the best answer and then make his or her own choice ... voting after applying the chosen answer.. perhaps even overriding the Communities choice..

Points are irrelevant...

The best answer is the one that satisfies the asker best.So selection of best answer should be done only by the asker.
There may be more than one solutions that answers the Que.But some may require more effort than others.Based on complexity asker can give the rating. Some times i see more than one user suggesting the same solu. so duplication must not be there.

Well you can't have more than one BEST answer. That doesn't make sense ; ) But I do like your idea of a second or third best. Kind of like an honorable mention.

Also, I think Myspace should have it's own category under computers. You wouldn't BELIEVE the amount of myspace questions that pop up under Computers and Internet.

Yahoo could adopt a runner-up answer elected by voters. I don't see a problem in doing that.

A bigger problem is the spamming issue.
