Here is a link to a Yahoo group for Can-Am couples that gives you support and advice on going through the immigration process:

First of all, you will not become a US citizen after marriage. You
will receive a 2 years residency, and if you are still married at the
end of these two years, you should remove the conditional status
together, and get you an unconditional permanent residency with a ten years Green card.
After three years of living together and with the unconditional card
you may apply for citizenship.
As US allows dual citizenship, and Canada does the same, you can be the citizen of both countries, US and Canada.

The answer is "no", but you cannot apply for U.S. citizenship immediately after you get married. You can only apply for a green card. After 7 years of continuous US residency, THEN you can apply for US citizenship.

You will not need to surrender your Canadian passport - you can become a dual national.

However, the US State Department only allows women and children to retain their foreign passports, and then only those from certain countries (Canada and the UK among them. They might be the only ones). Otherwise, you must surrender your mother country passport and with it all allegiance to your mother country. Either way, you must pledge allegiance to the United States in order to obtain US citizenship.

i imagine you should note for a eco-friendly card once you get married. Fiancee visa is in basic terms valid for some months so in case you men wanna stay collectively right here interior the US you'll prefer to observe for it, too. you are able to as well bypass the fiancee visa step. in case you record each little thing wisely attempt to be able to get your eco-friendly card after 5-8 months after using. good success
