Girls who have reached puberty are required to wear a jilbaab - loose fitting outer garment, when leaving the home. They are required to cover their hair and necks.
Some cover their faces with only their eyes showing.
Some also cover their eyes, feet, hands - to such an extent that no part of their body is visible.
The burka is loose and covers the hair and chest and also hides the shape of the woman's body. It is a comfortable and practical way to "cover up" and is therefore preferred by some women.

I am a Muslim and i have never really understood what a burkha is since no Muslim ever uses that word. It is a must on a Muslim woman past the age of puberty to cover her head and neck and not where any suggestive or skin tight clothing. That's about it.
