No. Try colouring books instead, that will be enough to keep them occupied and easier for him/her to make the transition into sitting still and listening. If your child plays up to get out of those big 'boring' congregational meetings in the hope that they can escape into a corridor and run around, don't let them. If you have to take them out, sit in a quiet room with them on your lap where they can't do anything at all- they'll soon want to be back in the meetings if there is nothing else to do.
Or, instead of colouring books, play a little game to get them to listen...have them sit with a piece of paper and get them to wirte down (make a tally chart) the amount of times a particular word is said...like prayer for example. Have a little reward for them for after the meeting if they come up with what you think would be the right answer.
There are lots of ways to keep children busy during those meetings, just be creative :)

Absolutely not! I know how difficult it is to keep children from getting ansy at church, but allowing them to play video games is definately not ok. You need to teach them early the purpose of their visit to church. Prepare them at home, explain why you go and tell him/her that when they are out of the church you will allow them to play their video games. If you go the easy route and allow that, when they get older they will think they can do what they want or you might again go the easy way out.

I think it's important to teach kids how to behave in church while they are young. So therefore my answer is No, it's not ok but I'm also all for whatever works for YOu!!!
I usualy bring coloring books and teach them to be quiet and that their are olot of other people here that are trying to pay attention to the priest. If they choose not to what to pay attention thats ok but thye need to respect others by being quiet.collor of read a book.

I am an atheist but my children attend church with their Grandparents, we attend once in awhile, if my daughters are in a play or singing or something. Regardless of my belief, i think that if they decide to go to church they are going for something. To learn, and that is fine with me, but just as i would not send them with some video games to play at school, while they are LEARNING, I would also not send them to church, where they are going to LEARN. I think it is a no brainer, if your child is that bored with it, maybe you need to reevaluate the church you are attending.

NO! Children should be with parents at all times except when old enough to attend Sunday School. Parents should be responsible in teaching discipline and making their children behave in Church. Besides, how will they grow up learning about the Lord when they never hear. Learning about God starts when we are babies, continues as we grow up.

No. He needs to learn to listen. If he is very young leave him with a babysitter or join a church that provides children's services or babysitters.
