My Dog (WAS) a obsessive licker too. I thought it was cute at first that She wanted to show so much loving. It didn't take long, I was like STOP enough is enough because She did it all of the time. I started putting hot sauce on my arm and everytime She licked it She hated it. I just kept doing it everyday and it didn't take long but She no longer licks People. Don't let your Dog lick you unless you have something on that the Dog will hate and this will break them of it. If your Dog starts to lick you stop it from doing so and run and put something on that it will not like the taste of. My Dog was broke in less than a weeks time.

Have you ever tried bitter apple? It's a liquid spray one can buy from a pet store or online. Dogs HATE the taste of it. You should see the faces they make when they get a snoot fulll.
You spray the part of the dog which he's licking (also can be used on furniture to prevent chewing). It's non toxic to the animal and eventually they get the idea not to lick. It is recommended to also distract them with something else.. a toy, perhaps...once you've sprayed the product on so they don't get too frustrated..
It doesn't work on all dogs but certainly most dogs.
I had occasion to use this just recently. Get the original formula - NOT the new and improved stuff
Good luck.

Does your dog lick the furniture legs or a person? If your dog licks the furniture, just go to any pet store and ask for a deterent for dogs chewing the furniture. This is a spray that tastes bad to dogs when they lick/chew the furniture and is is safe and non-toxic.
You can also put some slightly diluted lemon juice in a spray bottle (make sure it is clean, better to but a clean one that didnt have hair spray or chemicals in it) and spray that on the furniture were your dogs licks. It will quickley teach him to stop.

I had the same problem with one of my dogs. Each time she tried to lick, I put my hand on her muzzle and said a stern, "Don't lick!" It took some time and persistance, but it paid off. Once you start doing this, don't give in even once and let her lick or you have to start all over again.

Give him something else to do - such as a nylabone to chew on. A lot of dogs do this out of boredom.

If he is licking your hands, get some of the stuff that you put on kids thumbs (when they suck their thumb) and put it on your hands.
