Hello,

(ANS) No! what your describing in your posting is called dis-association, a person becomes ungrounded, imbalanced and out of touch with a sense of reality. Its caused by loosing touch with the very deep inner parts of yourself thats why things seem abit unreal. Thats a very definate symptom of that condition.

**Just to clarify something here, with depression a person has feelings its only that the feelings have collapsed in upon themsleves. So there is a lack of energy in the emotional sense, a sense of weight or the feelings being heavy. A sense of buden perhaps.

**Anxiety is a completely different state and has different feelings from depression as such. In anxiety there is a sense of being wound up, feeling on the edge of something, the emotions are very finely tuned, almost too aware, anxiety tends more towards emotions like fear or fearfullness.

**Dis-association & getting very ungrounded is quite a serious state of affairs and you shouldnt ignore this, you definately should seek immediate support or help. Preferably from someone who understands what disassociation is, & how to help. Most ordinary people wont understand this unless they have experienced it themselves. A good counsellor or psychotherpist or CPN would understand this.

Hope that helps?

Best Regards IR

You mind is projecting an image from your distant memory bank to a time when you were happy and at peace. Its because the conversation is uninteresting and so not you.You are trying to join in but loose interest, thats when the mind does funny things. It can make you get up and go talk to somebody else without you even thinking about it.Your mind starts wandering of to images it likes or places its been in the middle of a conversation. Its a type of escapism.
You clearly need to change your routine.

Yes, I can relate to how you feel very much. I suffered panick attacks and severe anxiety after the birth of my son...I still have the anxiety, but in the beguining I felt like I had lost the sense of reality, I used to go places where I was familar with, but that was no good either, I just felt the same..Have you done any relaxation techniques ? like closing your eyes and taking deep breaths, try breathing slowly in through your nose and then slowly out your mouth, as you breath in, start counting until you can breath in no more, then slowly breath out until all the air has gone, do this until you are taking the same amount of breaths in as you are out, you will notice your breathing in a more rhythmatic rhythm..I think when we feel spaced out, it has something to do with how we are breathing..Try that and see how you get on....

Yes, that did happen a lot to me. Sometimes it was very embarrasing. There were many things happening in my life where I was distant and not there... Now I wish I was but the most important thing is that I beat those things... I don't suffer from depression anymore and I'm happy I beat it naturaly, with no medicines...

Find out how it's possible:

All the time. I think it's a pretty common thing though. You get lost in your own thoughts and stop being able to perceive or emote properly to things going on around you. I find it a bit of a relief from the usual overwhelming misanthropy I feel about people around me.

Yeah its a bad thing to go through, wouldnt even wish it on my friends or relatives. I think a lot of it is thinking about the past and kind of mentally making paralell universe between our good times and the way we feel and the bad.

When you are able to listen to the things you want to, or even eat the things you want to, do what you want to do, dont think about anyone thinking thinks about you, the greatest enemy is your mind once you let your paranoid voices in your head go away your getting there.

I am still waiting to see a shrink but by the time I see him/her I think I wll be cured lol.

funny i should run across your question
i have had this feeling most of my life
not all the time though only once in awhile
yes...its almost like nothing is real
i have narrowed it down to aniety
some people dont understand me but others say it is anxiety
i have feelings though...its just that it feels so unreal like i am not really here
then it goes away as quick as it comes
thanks for your question...nice to know we are not alone huh

Totally disconnected. Out of synch with the rest of the world. Felt like a ghost; people could see right through me. There was no substance to me.

I have had times where I felt like everything was very surreal, things were distorted and I was an outsider looking in...I don't feel like I am "with it" when that happens....that can be pretty common when you get depressed and anxious enough....
