And good god, he has the ball on the 20 yard line. He's running....at the 30...the 40....he could go all the way......touchdown. The hail mary worked.

I know that you correct because I know the passage in the Gospel of Luke you are referring to. But my friend do you think it is a good idea to ask your question in this way? We should not behave like the uneducated fundamentalists and pick fights with other faiths. It only leads to confusion and discontent. I understand that these people constantly insult us due to their own lack of knowledge about us or where the Bible and their churches came from. It is frustrating. But arguing between different groups of Christians only muddies the waters further and makes non-believers mock us and look elsewhere for spiritual guidance and enlightenment. Fight fire with fire and we will all get burned.

"Hail" was a common greeting in that time. It was nothing special.
The Magnificants of Mary and Elizibeth glorified God. The Hail Mary glorifies Mary.
Isaiah 48:11
For mine own sake, even for mine own sake, will I do it: for how should my name be polluted? and I will not give my glory unto another.
The adoration of Mary gives something to her that does not belong to her, God's glory.
JP II called Mary the "co-Redemptrix" with Christ.
No where in the Bible are we commanded to pray in any other name that that of Jesus Christ, our Savior. In fact, Acts 4:12 tells us:
Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

The hail mary in the Bible is totally different in comparison to the Hail mary used by Catholics. I know this as I grew up in a Catholic family.

I feel I must address this to the Conservative Protestants.
Catholics believe that Mary, the mother of Jesus, is highly revered, though not worshipped.
For those Conservative Protestants who aren't familiar with the dictionary meaning of revered: respect, honor, adore
For those Conservative Protestants who aren't familiar with the dictionary meaning of worship: idolize
Since Mary was the mother of Jesus, she was adored, but not worshipped. She's not regarded as God or God-like.
Again, it depends on who you ask.
You Conservative Protestants share in the many trials and tribulations that Catholics share, and are not singled out as believers of a religion with one interpretation that every follower can agree with.
That being said, the truth is tough to swallow.
Antie Em--Why pray to someone who was a man, why not pray directly to God himself? This would be the argument of Muslims and Jews. Can you dish it out and take it as well?

Protestants fail to understand that denying Mary the title "Mother of God" declares Jesus to be merely human and not divine.
Why would we expect them to understand any of the finer theological points?
Protestants follow a simple faith, based on a simple book, with simple rules.
Unfortunately, their faith is too weak to believe in a God who can bless and keep his own church, their understanding is too limited to properly interpret the true meaning of their holy book, and their rules were made up by vain men who had no authority from God to do so.

Mary is still dead in the ground and rotted away by now. We are not to say repetitious prayers as the pagans do. There is one mediator between man and God, the man Christ Jesus.
We are not Gabriel.

Say whatever you will in order to glorify the Father in Heaven. Protestants get caught up in formalities that really don't matter to God. He just wants us to share His love and teachings with others and bring them into the knowledge of His salvation. Remember, we are still in our human forms here on this earth and that won't change until Christ returns to take us home.

Elizabeth was telling Mary that she was blessed, but not that she should be worshiped. Blessed can be translated to mean 'happy'
We have been blessed, but that does not mean that we should be worshiped.
Mary, mother of God? not hardly! No where does the Bible teach us to say hail Mary! It says it is the Father only that we should worship! Our prayers are to be directed to God in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ. Period, not saints, not any human intercessor, only to God, through Jesus!
Matthew 6:1-13: "“Take good care not to practice YOUR righteousness in front of men in order to be observed by them; otherwise YOU will have no reward with YOUR Father who is in the heavens. 2Â Hence when you go making gifts of mercy, do not blow a trumpet ahead of you, just as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be glorified by men. Truly I say to YOU, They are having their reward in full. 3Â But you, when making gifts of mercy, do not let your left hand know what your right is doing, 4Â that your gifts of mercy may be in secret; then your Father who is looking on in secret will repay you.
5Â “Also, when YOU pray, YOU must not be as the hypocrites; because they like to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the broad ways to be visible to men. Truly I say to YOU, They are having their reward in full. 6Â You, however, when you pray, go into your private room and, after shutting your door, pray to your Father who is in secret; then your Father who looks on in secret will repay you. 7Â But when praying, do not say the same things over and over again, just as the people of the nations do, for they imagine they will get a hearing for their use of many words. 8Â So, do not make yourselves like them, for God YOUR Father knows what things YOU are needing before ever YOU ask him."
Matthew 4: 10: "Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve."
Exodus 20:4 & 5a: " You must not make for yourself a carved image or a form like anything that is in the heavens above or that is on the earth underneath or that is in the waters under the earth. 5Â You must not bow down to them nor be induced to serve them, because I Jehovah your God am a God exacting exclusive devotion,"

And where does the rest of it come from? Besides, why should we pray to some mortal woman who has no power when the Bible says you can pray DIRECTLY to Jesus and He will answer (and does). Mary is dead and gone and pushing up daisies.
