What do you think of Twining's brand tea?

Question

I like trying the different teas, rather than just do the Lipton's that we have here. Twining's is the only English brand that we seem to have in our store, usually.

There's one other, which is an American version of the English teas, which is okay, but not great.

I really like Twining's English Breakfast, Irish Breakfast and Prince of Wales.... Have to buy it in tea bags, as the stores don't sell it as loose tea, which I'd prefer. I'd have to travel several miles and cross the border into Canada to buy it by the half pound.

I guess what I'm asking is, if you came to my house to tea, and I served Twinings in the tea bags, would you feel insulted?

I haven't noticed Tetley's here, but I will look for it. It might be out there. I think it may be available in Canada.

Thanks, Kevina, but please dont bother. I can now and then go into Canada to buy it loose. Of course, I could cut the bags open too, as someone else said. That sounds a bit silly, tho.

Have to admit I've never had it at home, but some of the funnier restaurants serve it. Although they have all sorts of flavored kinds . . . which of course taste like different flavors . . . regular Twinings tea tastes like tea to me. . . . as do Lipton and Tetley and Food Lion generic, for that matter! Put a little lemon and sugar . . . or honey . . . in it and go! But I'd be honored, nevertheless, if you invited me over for a cup!

Tea brands are not all the same. There are many different blends of teas, and the blends are very carefully selected and mixed by expert tasters in the plant. A significant amount of research goes into the various locations for good crops, and the production cycle Of the top tea production countries (China, India, Sri Lanka), Indian and Sri Lankan blends are most popular in the Western World. Lyons Tea, and Twinnings have the largest R&D and yearly production research labs to pick and mix the perfect blends. Remember most teas are a blend of various other types.

No I wouldn't feel insulted but you know what? Tetley's tea is SO much better (it's like English Breakfast tea but a bit stronger than Twinings' version).

You can in some areas in the states (I know 'cause I found it) get Tetleys. Look out for it because it is so scrummy. Don't forget to have it with milk (and sugar if you take it).

Off to make a brew now, as you got me thinking about it!

(Incidentally, Tetleys is a brand of Yorkshire Tea).

Hi, No i wouldnt be offended if you gave me Twining's Tea (any variety) here in England it is an excellent brand named tea. To be quite honest though i dont know if we sell Twining's loose, but i can find out, and if i can i would send you some. kevina242000 @yahoo.co.uk

No not at all. I love the Twining ranges or teas and I have quite a few of them in my cupboard from Lady Grey and Earl Grey, English Breakfast, I highly recommend Chai (as I absolutely love that one) and I have some of their herbal ones as well I love the peppermint one that they do

I like Twinings myself. I use English breakfast and Irish breakfast too. I havn't tried Prince of Wales, but will look for it in the market. You would not be insulting me if you served it. Hmmm I think I'll have a cup now! :)

i grew up drinking twinings. it is a very good tea. i like tetley tea also.

I wouldn't feel insulted, because it's better than a lot of others.

My own choice is the Wiltshire Tea Company (which does mail order) - cheaper and better quality than Whittards.
