I just don't have the energy or see the need to read my Bible everyday. How can one be real spiritual? What does that mean to follow God all day and live in contentment and joy? Everytime someone talks about knowing God's joy it seems to be that they are flaunting it more than wanting to spread it and are very vague on where that joy comes from. I know that this life will be filled with dissapointment and pain because we live in a temporary place that is filled with crappy stuff. I want to be "spiritual" all through the day. When reading the Bible it seems Jesus it always telling us what we are doing wrong. Someone point me toward a merciful God instead of telling me all these hoops I need to jump through to find his mercy. I have jumped through those hoops all my life and it doesn't seem to be getting me anywhere.

I personally don't read the Bible, although I respect its existence.
My rule of thumb is this, God is inside you, if you love yourself, and others, and you truly act from your heart, give without expecting anything in return, love all mankind, accept them and you don't intentionally harm anyone....you are a good person...if, because we are human, we err, then just pause and ask him for forgiveness for being weak..We all know the ten commandments, if we keep them, to the best of our human abilities, he will forgive us....the important thing is to love, not hate, judge others, and intentionally hurt someone....if someone hurts you, seek not revenge and if anything, just turn the other cheek, the onus will be on them....for you will have the love and confidence that God is always with you. Hope this doesn't sound too flaky, I just try to do the best I can to help people, and if in return they betray or hurt me, I just leave it to God, who is our maker and he and only he can see everything, therefore if your conscience is clean....you are a good person....living the way God intented us to.

Take each day at a time. This life is painful and laborious; most days I feel the same as you do. I've even questioned at times why do I really believe. The answer that keeps coming back is that He loves me. I think about my life before my conversion and I don't ever want to go back there again. It was a very long, very dark, very lonely place.
Do I pray everyday? No. Why? Jesus makes me looks at myself in the mirror and sometimes I don't like what I see (my sins). I have tried to change them but it's very hard. I do WANT to change them. I value Jesus' love for me more than anything else. When life gets me down He is the one person that always gives me peace where there is none nowhere else.
Your struggle sounds like mine. I try to conquer my sins on my own strength and I end up wearing myself out and only sinning more. It's frustrating and tiring. The answer is to grow closer to Jesus. When our lives and hearts are filled with His love, we lose the desires for the things that aren't good for us. I've seen this many many times.
Spend time with God in prayer. Just you and Him. Let go of all your pains and worries and just relax in His grace. Go talk to your pastor if need be. Take your time. He will show you the way.

Stop jumping through hoops.. Why are you doing it? Set your mind on God a few minutes with me here and listen to Him. Remember He told us that His yoke is light. What did He tell us was the way to God? He said "I am the way"... make Jesus the center of life and STOP worrying that you aren't be a good enough christian. God will show you how he want to use you and when He does it won't be burden but a joy.. So Stop trying and let God lead you.... Jim

Do every single thing you do to the best of your ability and this is fit worship. Because God is everywhere and everything. Not distant at all. We are swimming in it. What else do you do besides reading the Bible. Do you pray regularly? Do you do anything for God such as giving money to the poor, visit people in nursing homes, prisions, etc. We draw closer to God when we love others and do for them. It is an active thing, not a passive thing.

You have to fast and pray.Talk to him know what his will is.know his ways love is his principal.learn to forgive know he forgives.All in time it takes patience it like a baby you have to grow slowly and before you know it youll be very spiritaul and have complete trust in him and will know what true love is and so much more how everything falls into place in your life.He teaches love and is not distant at all he is actually there for me in rough times you need faith and fasting and prayer helpps.
