I have a friend from Brazil and I will be talking with her wednesday (not on phone but IM). Can anyone tell me some portuguese i can say to her? I already know "hi, how are you", so is there anything anyone can teach me real quick? just a few nice phrases. Please put both the english an portuguese please

she knows english pretty well so its not like we have a hard time communicating

1. Legal = cool
2 Obrigada = Thank You (if you are female) ..if you are male you say Obrigado
3 Beijos = kisses Beijo = Kiss
4 Xau = Bye.... its slang for Tchau
5 Bom dia = Good morning
6 Boa tarde =Good afternoon!
7 Boa noite = Good night! / Good evening!
8 Como foi seu fim-de-semana? = How was your weekend?
9 Voce/Vc me ama ? Do you love me? (Voce = you) .. but for slang.. you can write VC.
The bad thing is... she might respond back in Portuguese lol... if she does and you dont understand.. just say LEGAL = COOL .. lol

Go to www.babelfish.com and you can type what you want to say in English, it will translate it for you. Then you can copy-n-paste in your IM. You can also reverse it to find out what your friend is saying! I've used this many times and have always been pleased with the ease-of-use!
