because when a lens is implanted in the eye it seems as if there is a mirror in the pupil which makes the eye looks like cat's eye it shines when the patient 's eye is exposed to any source of light...this makes the patient feels so bad!! is there any hope to an alternative operation beside implanting a lens in the pupil!!?

I don't know of any therapy because a cataract is a milky film that grows over the lens and must be removed surgically. I had cataract surgery a few years ago and now at 65 I don't need glasses except to read very fine print such as on an OTC medication bottle. My daughter says she can occasionally see the lens if she looks at me from the side. It doesn't bother me one bit. I don't feel bad; I feel blessed.

Not really. Cataracts are caused by the lens turning from clean and transparent to foggy and translucent. Light can still get through the lens but a person can not see. The lens is removed during the surgery. In years past, the person had to wear very thick glasses but now they put in an internal lens in place of the one they remove.

The artificial lens is much better than the old thick glasses and well worth any kind of "cat's eye" effect.

Perhaps down the road they will come up with some sort of medication that can clear the frosted lenses, but until then, the internal lens is the best way to go.

Lens implant is currently the only option
