He is the founder of Jewish monotheism. Indirectly, he is also the founder of Christianity and Islam, since they both came from Judaism.

Abraham had two sons by different mothers. He had Ishmael (his oldest) by an Egyptian slave know as Hagar. Muslims believe that Ishmael is Abraham's legitimate heir, and that he is the father of the Arabs.

Abraham had a second son, Isaac, by his wife Sarah. The Jews are descended from Isaac, and according to the Bible, Isaac inherited the promises (the Old Covenant) that God made to Abraham.

He is the patriarch of all three faiths. Judaism directly, Islam through his poor choices of bedding his servant, and finally Christianity thought the birth of Jesus. So truly through him all the world was blessed, though it is through Christ that it is to be manifested.

Abraham is supposed to be the first person to have believed in a One and Only God and was therefore the first Jew! The Christians are the cousins of the Jews, though neither of them are keen to admit this. The Muslims adopted some Jewish and Christian traditions and beliefs. That is where the links lie !
