I can believe that. I recently spent a month in France doing researching religion for an anthropology class, and my findings were very similar...most people answered my survey saying that they were 'nonreligious Catholics'. Many young people are turning to atheism and forms of agnosticism to show that they are very different from their parents and grandparents...but every small town is easily distinguishable across miles of farmland because of its church steeple. The French have not torn down Notre Dame yet, though they once came close.

Ya, France isn't exactly known for it's wholesome goodness. :)

Secondarily, attending church may or may not mean anything. You can go to church everyday, but if you're spiritually dead and rejecting God, you're not getting any holier. :-D

On the other hand, someone in Africa feeding the poor and ministering to them is gaining huge Heavenly rewards.

Sorry you feel this way. I'm Catholic and I sincerely pray for a deeper conversion of all my Christian brothers and sisters - catholic or protestant.

I didn't know the percentage, but I knew it was low as it is in England, and the Czech republic is almost entirely atheist.

Things are looking up in the world.
