Bake for only the time instructed! Yes, they look doughy but you suppose to let them cool! and within time they will become hard! and ready 2 eat!

Don't worry. Been there, done that. You have know when to take them out. Oven vary so you can't go by the time that they write on the recipe. The best way is to a fork or a toothpick and stick it in through the center of the cookie. If it comes out pretty clean, then the cookies ready. At 8-10 minutes you cookies were doughy, you shouldn't wait 5 more minutes. Maybe even 30 seconds or a minute might be enough depending on your oven. Before you start baking cookies from scratch. Practice,
with Nestle toll house cookie dough. You just have to break it off and place the pan. I put foil paper on pan first also and I preheat the oven for 10 minutes.

Good Luck.

Do you ever taste your dough before you bake it? When was the last time you checked your ovens temp with a thermometer. First thing, the dough has to taste good, second, throw the timer away, rack position, in the middle, WATCH your cookies, when the edges start to get lite brown and you don't have a hot pad ready to grab them out they will be over cooked by the time you find one and pull them out. The cookies will look like they're not done but they are. Timing, it's all timing.

It sounds like your oven temperature is off kilter. Try turning the oven up 25 degrees. Make sure it is well pre-heated and leave them in for the required time. Then, if they are overdone or underdone, adjust the temperature and/or time slowly until you get the right mix. Use a timer, not just glancing at your watch. When you get the correct temp formula, write it down and keep it handy for all baking you do in the future.

umm you need to watch them as not all temps are right on ovens, gas and electric dont cook the same, and the size of the inside of an oven, can all change the out come(time, and temp.) of what your cooking. stop cooking the cookys when they are golden to get them soft or if you like them hard leve them in till they just start to brown. dang i wish i had some cooky dough home made soft hot cookies and milk sound good.
