My cousin saw a chicken on the side of the road and though poor chicken because its wings were cliped and stuff so she took it to our grandparents house and it ran around for the last few hours of its life a free bird.

Hi there. Chickens are fairly easy to take care of. As some of the others have suggested, you'll need to stay on top of the cleaning. Starter/ Grower is the best thing to feed young chicks. Also, if you're able, let them out into your yard every so often. They love to dig around the garden and catching bugs and things is good for them. Make sure you keep them warm too. Also, chicks grow up very quickly so if you don't have a lid on the box you're keeping them in, they could soon be jumping out and you won't even realise! So keep an eye on that. The only other things I can suggest is to get a mite spray or powder to keep them mite-free. Also, chickens of all ages love corn! Buy some frozen corn kernels from your supermarket and give the chicks some (defrosted) maybe once a week. You could also try rolled oats. This should be easy enough for them to eat. Having said this though, corn and oats shouldn't replace the starter/ grower, but rather compliment it.l They need the starter/ grower for their little growing bodies as it has nutrients in there that they need. Good luck!

KFC has been a part of our American traditions for many years. Many people, day in and day out, eat at KFC religiously. Do they really know what they a re eating? During a recent study of KFC done at the University of New Hampshire , they found some very upsetting facts. First of all, has anybody noticed that just recently, the company has changed their name?
Kentucky Fried Chicken has become KFC. Does anybody know why? We thought the real reason was because of the "FRIED" food issue.
IT'S NOT! !
The reason why they call it KFC is because they can not use the word chicken anymore . Why? KFC does not use real chickens. They actually use genetically manipulated organisms. These so called "chickens" a re kept alive by tubes inserted into their bodies to pump blood and nutrients throughout their structu re . They have no beaks, no feathers, and no feet. Their bone structu re is dramatically shrunk to get mo re meat out of them. This is great for KFC.
Because they do not have to pay so much for their production costs. The re is no mo re plucking of the feathers or the re moval of the beaks and feet. The government has told them to change all of their menus so they do not say chicken anywhere . If you look closely you will notice this. Listen
to their commercials, I guarantee you will not see or hear the word chicken. I find this matter to be very disturbing.
I hope people will start to re alize this and let other people know. Please forward this message to as many people as you can. Together we make KFC start using real chicken again.

I love KFC chicken. Had it for dinner last night. It is food, not raised as pets.
You go around feeling sorry for every food animal, and you'll be totally vegan in no time. But you eat eggs? I don't understand that.
I'm glad to know that your video showed the KFC chickens are fresh.

I had to post this simply because of the ignorance of the poster who was talking about the "genetically manipulated organisms"...
The company adopted the abbreviated form of its name in 1991 for four reasons: to deemphasize chicken (the chain was moving to offer other foods), the unhealthy connotations of "fried", the copyrighting of the term "Kentucky" by the state of Kentucky, and the shorter name was considered more appealing to youth.
Chickens used in its products are bought from suppliers like Perdue, Tyson, and Pilgrim's Pride and these suppliers are routinely monitored for animal welfare violations.
There is some degree of cruelty in the killing of anything we eat, but most animals kill other animals for food, it's the order of the food chain. It's been happening for millions of years before humans. It's also cruel to cage up a cow just for it's milk which means that you should be a Vegan. You could also argue that chopping a broccoli stalk is cuel since you have to kill the plant. In that case you would have to eat only things that fall from a tree or banch... then you'd be a Fruitarian.
As for myself, I eat chicken... and drink milk... and love brocolli.

I had my own yard hens as well and i only kept them as pets and for the eggs..no way could I have killed them to eat. However, those chickens for KFC are bred for slaughtering. If you think about all the cows, pigs, chickens, lambs, fish, that are killed for our consumption..then you would never eat any again. Get over it and enjoy your little chickens for their eggs.

You have to balance your knowledge of animal slaughter (any animal) with your requirement to eat. You can survive on a purely vegetarian diet, no animal food of ANY kind. It's up to you alone to decide how sensitive you are (or not) and what your priorities are.
Personally, I have a few good chicken recipes you might like.

thats hard. Why don't you try eating different meat. Or just don't eat KFC. I love chicken too. I eat chicken only sometimes though. Not too often. It is not my first choice. I wouldn't want to eat chicken at all if I loved them sooo much like my sister. Ilove them but not as much as not to ever eat them ever again. I eat them occasionally. Question yourself.... Do you love thema whole bunch??

If you feel so strongly about it, then you should avoid eating chickens from now on. But for the rest of us, I don't see anything wrong with slaughtering chickens.
