My 4 year old son has been diagnosed high functioning autistic. As his verbal skills and social skills are slowly improving, his ability to do other things has diminished somewhat. He used to have no problem with 50-60 piece puzzles, but now does have problems. He also seems to get frustrated by puzzles when in the past he would sit for hours until he finished one. Is this a good sign, or could it be the sign of another developmental problem?

The fact that his verbal and social skills are improving are a very good sign. Progress can be very slow sometimes and all progress should be celebrated. His abilities may not be "diminishing" it may just be that he is having to spread his focus on so many other things right now to progress that he has a bit less focus for the puzzles.
