Q: What did United States government officials say was their reason for not signing the Kyoto Protocol, even though the U.S. is the largest producer of greenhouse gases?

A: Government officials stated that it wouldn't do any good as long as China and India weren't held to the same standards—it would only hurt the U.S. economy; of course they overlooked the fact that they could help stop global warming, and make money at the same time, by leading the world in green technology development.
