most likely, no other reason I can think of that he would want a hug.

you have to take the type of guy into consideration... is he a guy who you see hugging tons of other girls?.. or is it only you.. if it's only you then your in.. but if you see him just going down the hall hugging every hot girl he sees... then maybe not.. yet if you know he is really close friends with other girls he hugs then you probably are in if you aren't already best friends with him. watch him for a couple days before metioning anything about you both dating or anything.. i always go out on a limb and be assertive.. which can be beneficial too if you know what you're doing.
