I have a front foyer made of slate and lots of cement (grout?). What is the best cleanser to use to whiten the grout? It's never white it seems. Pretty quick I'm going to whitewash it.

Oxyclean is very good for grout. If the grout is pretty bad, make a grainy paste of oxyclean and water. Apply it to the grout lines, let it dry, and then vacuum it up. I have never actually done that, though. I just mix up a strong solution, strain it into a squirt bottle and wet the grout with it. (You can wet the whole floor, it won't hurt it.) The oxyclean only works while it's wet. (I have to strain it because the undisolved particles clog the opening)

Grout wash... usual hardware store location to get it.... can try mr. clean magic eraser if not too badly stained, worked on mine but tough on the sponges if it's sanded grout (mine isn't)...
