Hey,
I'm almost 21 and just had my 3rd wisdom teeth removed. They did an x-ray and it seems that I only have 3 wisdom teeth; the on the lower right is missing. Does that mean that I won't get the 4th one at all or can it still grow now (although it doesn't appear on the x-ray)?

Thanks in advance!
Julia

Consider your self lucky! You won't have to have another one removed. This is a common trait seen more often over the years, some are missing one or two, occasionally all four are missing. Some say it's due to evolution or not needing them for mastication since our foods are easier to chew and eventually they won't develop anymore. Similar to the theory of humans developing from apes, having a tail and now our vertebra are fused at the coccyx. Who knows? Then there are others who have some extra teeth, I was unfortunate to be one of those. Perhaps I haven't evolved on the chain as fast as others?! And no, you won't grow or develop one at this late date if they didn't see a bud forming on the x ray. Hope I've helped you with this.

I would think that this means you're in the clear - I wouldn't expect that 4th tooth to show up. It's not unusual to be missing one or more of your wisdom teeth from the get-go - my husband only had 2, I have 4, and I have a friend who had none!

it is absolutely normal to have 3 ,2,or even 1 wisdom tooth , because it is a matter of human evolution and development to decrease jaw length over thousands of years,in 21 years if there is no radiographical evidence of a wisdom tooth so it will never appear...

It's not unusual to be missing a wisdom tooth. If you've taken a full head xray (called a panorex) and the dental professional couldn't locate it, then you won't be developing one this late.
