This was simply a lie put forward as part of the marketing of this war in the pre-war runnup! Osama tried to assasinate Saddam and Saddam viciously oppressed all religious extremists who opposed his secular brand of governance. There is NO proof, NO facts whatsoever that there was any connection ever between Saddam and Osama. All this talk of Iraqis meeting with Al queda and bases in Iraq are all lies designed to justify a fake, war of profit. Apparently it succeeded in fooling half of america!
“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”

Funny you should ask this question now in light of the Feith activities. He is one of the people responsible for forging the bin-Laden/Hussein connection used to sell the war to the American people.

Were these people so ignorant of Islam that they just couldn't believe their own eyes. There had to be a link between the two because they were both Muslim. Right? Or did they know from jump there was no connection?

Good to hear though that Douglas Feith's activities were not "illegal" although they have turned out to be fatal to, perhaps 650,000 people.

"The enemy of my enemy is my friend" The US was the enemy of both Saddam and Osama... they worked together against us. When we were defeated they would continue their own disagreements. Not to difficult a concept.... except for a leftist that also hates the US.

The enemy of my enemy is my friend.

Yes, they were enemies but their common thread was the hatred of the US.

There were Al-Qaida training camps in Iraq and there were pilots being recruited from that camp to fly planes in the US just months before 9-11.

That's a fact.
