you want examples do you, here you go; "those from nations around you will be your slaves" and "love thy neighbour". Decalogue(ten commandments) thou shall have "no other gods except me" and the concept of Jesus as his son and God.

The Bible was written by men who were Spiritually inspired by God. It must also be read and understood with the same Holy Spirit. If not, then it does appear to be confusing, full of contridictions, and foolishness. This is why the various translations and interpetations are not a big issue. The truth of His Word remains unchanged. It is the greatest collection of writtings the world has ever known... the best seller of all time.

Well its not his Autobiography its a Biography written by people who never met God. Please if your interested in these things Go read the works of Joseph Campbell. His Books on the subject of comparative mythology are the best.
No God is beyond our books speech or art he/she whatever God is cannot be described by us. We can only use metaphor to touch what cannot be told. That metaphor is not a lie it says something about the nature of God but it is through the lens's of each Folk or local religion.
God is God He/she whatever that is transcends our lobed brains. A sheepherder in an open dessert will have a different metaphor for God then a amazonian who has lived in the jungle his whole life and who has never seen a lamb. Both Bibles will be different they will use different metaphor according to there own local perspective but the root symbols the deeper meaning will be the same because the brain and the biology is the same.

The Bible doesn't really contradict itself if you really look at it in context. The only way I can see you might be referring to is when Jesus comes in the New Testament and says that the Old Testament has been fulfilled and we do not live under the same law anymore. Hence the seperation of Old Testament and New Testament. But lessons in both Testaments are very aplicable for today.
The Bible was written a long time ago. But the scribes copying it down had VERY high standards. Every letter was precise! So, believe me, it's the real deal.

I love some of the answers from people who claim to be Christians but don't seem to have read the bible...

Archaeology agrees with the bible? No contradictions? Wow...

Here's one, small issue as an example.

Jesus was born in Bethlehem and Herod then massared the innocents....

Bethlehem was chosen as the birthplace to fulfill an old testament prophecy (Micah 5:2).

John's gospel says Christ was not from Bethlehem

Matthew says Mary and Joseph lived in Bethlehem and only left years later.

Luke says they lived in Nazareth and moved to Bethlehem in time for the birth and Caesar Augustus decreed that everybody had to go to their own cities. As Joseph was an ancestor of David (who lived approximately 1000 years earlier!) he had to go to Bethlehem - the city of David. Unfortunately history disagrees - there was no census decreed by Augustus. There was a local census but it happened after Herod's death. So it would contradict a later statement about the killing of the innocents.

The Words are God's Words as He inspired mere men to write.

I haven't found the contradictions that you talk about. I have found all the prophesies have come true as the prophets of God prophesied. These truths make me very sure of the fact that I am reading the TRUTH. I do prefer the King James Version of the Bible.

The Bible said over two thousand years ago that in the latter days "knowledge would increase." What has the computer done for us? What has TV done for us? What has radio done for us? What has the satellite done for us?

The Bible spoke of airplanes thousands of years before they were even invented.

The Bible said Israel would become a nation again in one day and speak the ancient language. Hebrew is the language chosen by Israel and in 1948 in one day Israel became a nation.

It has been proved that the Bible is actually incomplete. According to the Dead Sea Scrolls, there were a number of incidents that were written by Mary Magdaline that was not included, Aa book by the Apostle Thomas was left out. There were more but cant remember them. Could you explain further what contradictions are there in the Bible.

Much of the bible was written centuries after the events.
Many gospels were not included.
Mortal men decided what was included and what was not.
Why should we run our lives according to what bigoted religeous leaders believed in long long ago.
I believe in a power, call that power God if you wish. None of us are capable of understanding what life or the Universe is all about.
I sat in church one sunday morning, and listened to the minister saying how I should put god before my family and even my children!! My mind than said NO!!
I havent been to church since.
I think how you live your life is what is important.
Going to church does not you any better than me or anyone else.

What are the contradictions and who was ill when they wrote it?
By contradictions do you mean that the things jesus said were different from old testament traditions. Maybe thats not a contradiciton, its what jesus called 'a new commandment' cos people couldnt live by the ones God gave out.

2Timothy3:16--All scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness 17--that man of God may be fully competent completely equipped for every good work. This is an opinion about the bible having contradictions not a fact maybe if you knew more you wouldn't feel this way .

It is contradicted only by those who don't understand it.
Archeology has proven over and over that the Bible is accurate.
