Don't have to. Only 5% of total C02 is man made, a fact that most greens seem to ignore. 5%, or 9 billion tons is our total contribution to the atmosphere. C02 from natural sources, decomposition of organic materials, ocean out gassing, and animal respiration account for 189 billion tons (95%) of C02. Further, C02 is a relatively weak greenhouse gas when compared to water vapor, which all Kyoto proclamations seem to overlook. Water vapor is a more significant greenhouse gas in both terms of quantity and potency by a factor of 15 or so. So the actual net effect of human activity is only 5% of the 6.66%, or .0033%. Global warming, earth worshiping idiots will believe anything that is spoon fed to them by the media, its almost a religion.

We'll need to make some sacrifices, but not the extreme ones we'd have to make if we don't do anything now, and global warming hits hard. Here's what we need to do.
Conserve energy. There are a ton of websites on how to do this. Some sacrifices involved. Pay more for homes with good insulation. We'll be repaid with lower heating/cooling costs. Maybe drive smaller cars, and not drive a 5000 pound SUV to take one person to the grocery store.
Develop alternative energy sources; nuclear, solar, wind, biofuels. This will definitely cost money. But it will also provide some protection against the price of oil, which is certain to go way up as more countries industrialise.
Develop means to capture ("sequester") carbon dioxide. More money.
But if we don't do this and global warming hits, we'll be out a lot more money than the above. Along coasts we'll lose hundreds of billions of dollars of things we've constructed. Changing patterns of precipitation and temperature will severely damage agriculture. Rich countries will be able to cope, but they'll definitely see a decrease in the quality and comfort of life. In poor countries, which are already struggling just to feed themselves, millions of people will die of starvation.
Fixing global warming will involve some sacrifices, there is no magic answer that will save us from some hard work.
Not fixing it will be a whole lot worse.

We cant reverse what we have done, only "gaia"(natural planetary processes) can do that. All we can do is stop preventing the planet from doing its job. We need to find out exactly how much of our pollution the planet can deal with anually, that way we can control how much of those polutants are produced each year.
We may be to late though, atleast to see any results while the human race still exists.
But im not really worried, eventually the human race will go exstinct and the earth will be left to its healing processes, assuming we dont completely remove the ozone.

Recycle, turn things off when you're done with them, (if possible) get a car with better gas mileage, (if possible) use public transportation, (if possible) car pool, spend time every day doing something that doesn't require electricity, teach YOUR KIDS to do all of these things so that they can retain those habits.

I wonder what Al Gore drives.
Plant trees, use passive solar heat in your homes, re-use and recycle things, drive ecomony cars (or walk or bike), get gas guzzlers completely out of the picture. Aren't you SUV drivers tired of paying so much for fuel and sick of knowing you are enriching regimes that hate us???
