No. China does not have mandatory military service.

Actually, it's very competitive to serve in the Chinese military, because the military generally receive preferential treatment. When a person turns 18 years they (male and female) must register for military service, similar to the United States selective service, but there is enough volunteers to meet the military's recruitment needs.

China has the largest ground force in the world, about 2.2 million active duty Soldiers and the Chinese have undergone an extensive modernization effort.

Yes and NO. Israel it is mandatory since they are a small state. China's military sophisticated weapons are growing at-an-alarming rate. The FBI is responsible for the internal security of the US,but they will be overwhelmed by supporters of China that are Chinese and Non-Chinese. I predict the FBI will fail in their attempt and have become more sloppy as a result of the laws passed by George Walker Bush. And look who is helping China unintentionally? Russia. America has become a hypocritical puritanical morality police state that especially LOVE to punish Americans that do NOT break the laws of foreign and sovereign countries. America has made some sites at http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-B7Wi0R0jeqj8Lf5LD2P9RJPZ9G9a ILLEGAL and PUNISHABLE by sentencing to long prison terms! Sites as the http://www.ageofconsent.com were decimated by the use of 18 U.S.C. 2257 by malevolent Alberto R Gonzales! I wish he was sent to prison at Ft Leavenworth Kansas for his ties to ENRON, BUT EVIL PEOPLE PREVENTED JUSTICE FROM BEING METED AND NOW HE CONTROLS ALL LAWS AND ENFORCES THEM AT WILL
