Hey guys. Im a biology student and am using H2O2 on an experiment. I have done some reading on Hydrogen Peroxide, and some writers are certain that Hydrogen Peroxide can cure a variety of ailments, including cancer. It seems this is a controversial opinion, and am seeking views and opinons of some science folk in here.
If possible can you explain to me the exact science behind these arguments, e.g. how at a molecular level H2O2 cures cancer? Does it bind to it etc... Also if anybody know precisely how it is produced in the body. I believe it is a harmful byproduct of respiration.
Some say that by starving the cancer cells of oxygen, they will die - but wont the entire body be starved also, and subsequently - die.
Please advise if you have knowledge on this.
Thanks

Although I do not know about the role Hydrogen Peroxide plays in curing cancer, I do know that when it reacts with the enzyme catalase at around 40C the bonds of the H2O2 are broken and oxygen and water is made. I believe that the enzyme catalase is produced in the liver - but do not hold me to that - and I am almost certain the Hydrogen Peroxide is produced somewhere in the body. Perhaps good ol' wikipedia will be able to help: www.wikipedia.org Sorry I did not know very much about the cancer but I hope that bit of knowledge may have helped you somehow.

As far back as the early nineteenth century, hydrogen peroxide was widely used in medicine. Many bacterial diseases (including syphilis) responded to H2O2 when no other treatment was effective. In the early twentieth century, H2O2 was used to treat several common diseases, such as whooping cough, cholera, typhoid fever, ulcers, tuberculosis, and asthma. However, as the pharmaceutical industry began to develop expensive, new drugs, hydrogen peroxide was increasingly ignored and finally discarded as a treatment.

Hydrogen peroxide is not a cancer cure. It is toxic systemically. It is a strong oxidizer, and kills cells. When you pour it onto a would, the foam you see is oxygen released, when it is destroying blood cells. It also kills microbes, which is why it is an anti-septic.

Sorry this is junk. Hydrogen peroxide was considered good for flushing out wounds because it released oxygen which killed anaerobic bacteria. That's about all its used for medically.

If that was a cure for cancer then a lot of people have been dying needlessly........And since Hydro Perox has been around and readily available at ANY hospital.....I would deem these claims false
No need for molecular examination
