Yes, because you will always have countries that are out for their own best interests at the expense of others. Do you think anyone was going to negotiate Hitler back to Germany?

Human nature makes war necessary. In all of recorded history, human nature has not changed one bit. If you read the oldest human texts or oral histories, you will find that from time immemorial, there have always been people who are greedy and will kill and destroy to gain more.

This is what necessitates war - when peace-loving peoples are put upon by imperialists and tyrants.

Until human nature changes, and that won't happen anytime soon, then war remains necessary. A necessary evil, perhaps, but necessary all the same. This is why it remains important to maintain a strong military.

The French don't think so. They always surrender and then wait to be liberated or saved. Sometimes they just wait for the attackers to get bored with their country and leave. It saves by not having to spend money on the military and you don't have to bother with war memorials for your fallen heroes because you don't have any! Anytime anyone attacks you, steals from you, harasses you, simply surrender and let them take what they want and hope they don't want to kill you. Being a slave and coward was a way of life for many people. You just don't find them in the history books. Standing up for your rights, fighting for your freedom, and protecting the weak is just too, too American. It also takes courage and intelligence which you probably can't appreciate.

It is sometimes. The alternative is to surrender to every enemy that might want to destroy you. It's schoolground bullying on a global stage. The bully will beat up the kid he doesn't like or thinks is weak. If the weak kid doesn't defend himself, the bully will do it again the next day, and the next. If the weak kid musters all of his courage and strength and lays the bully out, he will quit messing with him. So the question is, do you want to be the weak pacifist kid who gets attacked and does nothing, or do you want to bloody the enemy's nose and lay him out?

Yes because those countries that want to take your freedoms don't respond in an acceptable way to simply asking them to stop. If say we ask the terrorists in a nice way to not attack our country they will laugh at us and do it out of spite. Negotiations don't usually work when the opposition is determined.
