If you want to lighten dark hair, make sure that you go to a salon. Doing it yourself will either turn the highlights red or you'll just waste your money.

The only way to lighten dark hair is to use hair bleach.

No products other than hair dye containing peroxide will work. As its quite tricky to get dark hair to go blonde to have a highlighted effected its best getting it done at a salon... as if its not done properly its very easy to really damage the hair and also if you do it yourself it often goes orangey ginger instead!

Thinks like lemon etc which can lighten the hair wont work on naturally dark hair it really noly works for people with blonder hair naturally.

Ive got really dark brown hair and ive been getting lots of chunky blonde highlights done at the salon for years now - you have to make sure you condition well as it does dry the hair.

Yes there are all sort of kits out there to add natural highlights to your hair it depends what colour you go for. Always remember that when buying a kit - powder and cream in one is usually bleach you need this to lighten the hair be careful with it! do fine streaks for more natural look. you could use any hair colour that takes your fancy if youve got your natural hair colour now. use a toothbrush or mascara wand to apply and make sure the colour dosent go on any of the other hair you could wrap some foil around the strands to leave to develop.
