The fall of every civilization that has fallen has been due to:
* expanding past what's manageable - either politically, in terms of social cohesiveness, food or water supply, or thinning out their military to the point that they cannot hold their client states and are vulnerable to attack.
* faling prey to diseases of plague-like proportions
* invasion by a stronger military force

Also, peace has it's own price. And if you're willing to forfeit stability in your life to fight in a war, go join the army in Iraq. Believe me, you'll have "fun" there.
