it would be best if it were semi well know or easily accessible. i can't seem to find a decent piece that is long enough and in my difficulty range. finger style is preferred, but straight pick stuff is ok. thanks for any help

Try something by Joe Pass. He put out several great solo albums. Start with the album Virtuoso.

go to youtube and search Scotty Anderson.
he's one great guitar player, he'll knock your socks off with his finger picking and might give you an idea of a song to do.
