Cats have phases. Whn your kitty grows out of this one, your gonna miss it terribly. Like your baby is all grown up kinda. I say cherish the moments! And your friends can just accept you have a cat that loves you!

This is normal and your cats way of being comforted. Some suckle on earlobes or other things and some even suckle on themselves or eachother.
If you think that's bad, my 3 cats, 2 boys and 1 girl- all siblings from the same litter, suckle on eachother even the boys nipples!!! It took some time to get used to it but it's harmless and their stress relieving mechanism.
Your embaressment is something you need to deal with and you should see a counselor. It's not a big deal. They aren't doing anything inappropriate or destructive.

my cat does the same. she was rescued from the wild when about 5 weeks old and when she climbs up on your lap, she kneads and sucks until she is settled enough to go to sleep, a bit like a baby with a bottle. she doesnt care who she does it to either.
i tried to stop her but it didnt work, she is now 13 and still does it, but not so often now. i have got an old fleece blanket which i make sure is under her mouth, because she dribbles quite a lot when she is doing this.
i also have a 15 yr old son who still sucks his fingers. tried all sorts to deter this too to no avail. help.....

Kittens this young are usually hungry at 5:30 am! He can wait to eat till breakfast. But he should not suck on a mole, it could cause problems with the mole. Don't let him suck on a fuzzy blanket or anything that could come apart--fuzzes from the blanket can get lodged in his throat & he could suffacate. (This includes plastic sacks and your hair.) You can let him suck on your little finger. He doean't need milk at his age anymore. That can cause diarhhea or tummy ache. I bet he would like to knaw on a checken leg bone--without the grissle on both ends, and without the splinter bone.

Hiya, Was your kitten from a large litter, or was he taken from his mother too soon? This is a natural reaction from a kitten that was not weaned properly, its no detrement to you i have had kittens that have done this, even now Bobbie who is 10yrs old if he gets the chance will suckle. Dont worry he will grow out of it as he gets older. When he suckles does his feet pad you? this is what they do to encourage milk from their mother. Just keep moving him off you everytime he does this. Hope this helps.

My cat now 13 years old use to get up and suck on me or my husbands earlobe or neck, while digging in are hair, when I took her to get her shots the vet said she was just remembering the best time of her life, when she was with her mother, sucking and needing riminds them of this.He said I could try and make her stop but it might effect her mental state because maybe she wasn't ready to let go of her mother yet or I could let her grow out of it on her own, which I did. When she would do this behavior I would just push her away until she got the hint or redirect her attention with a string or something, but this wasn't until she was 15 months old. about 18 months old she stopped all together, but now at the age of 13 from time to time she'll still get up on us and try to suck are neck or earlobe while needing are head.Good Luck I say they will out grow it.

Poor baby was weaned too soon! I have a cat that does the same thing and he is about a 1 1/2 years old. I don't know if they 'grow out of it'. Take a look at this article for tips to control the behavior. They suggest providing an alternative piece of fabric for them to make their 'own' and also using a bitter apple spray in your laundry to make your shirts taste 'bad'. Also, be sure to comfort him in this time to relieve stress. Scolding him only makes it worse.

He wont do it to your friends. He is doing it because you are his mum and its a comfort thing. My cat did this when he was a kitten and he grew out of it but still occassionaly does it when he is really tired or just needing a cuddle.
