I'm not sure why you want to take the train from Paris to Rome. If it's because you love trains or want to see the countryside, then go for it. However, consider the cost and time difference of flying. Check the cost for your travel dates at www.easyjet.com. It's much faster and in many cases much cheaper. I used EasyJet 3 times about a year ago when I visited Rome, Berlin, Paris, and Barcelona. No complaints at all. Another website to try is www.whichbudget.com, it compares all the airlines for you.

The cost is about $200 by train if you reserve it you might get a sleeper car. They run frequently but you would have to transfer no direct train to the 2 cities.

Go to www.eurail.com, or www.raileurope.com, or www.railkey.com. Depending on how far in advance you're looking, they'll have the information you need. You can't book more than 2 months in advance, so if your trip is more than 2 months from now, they may not have the information yet, but they will.

Budget? - Then hire a car unless you plan to take an overnight train (which defeats the purpose of seeing countryside views)
