I know many people people are concerned about abused and homeless children, but does anyone think that maybe preserving things like the rainforest, cheetahs, pandas and polar bears should also be a priority? I mean, if we tear apart our world with pollution and de-forestation will that help children?

We have many problems in our society and working on one does not mean that we are not concerned about others. I spoke to my mother the other day and she volunteers at the Humane Society. She said, "I know I should be doing something to help children that are in need, but this is what I really enjoy. My heart goes out to these innocent animals." We are best at what we are passionate about. We also have a need to feel that we can actually make a difference in our efforts. I think that many people do not believe that they can make a difference in things like global warming or endangered species. Hopefully, through education, all people can realize that they can make a difference in their every day choices. Buy products that are packaged in eco-friendly packaging; reduce, reuse and recycle; and reduce greenhouse gas emissions as much as possible. If we all did the simple things, we could save the planet.

Can we also help starving and abused children? I truly think that we can. Maybe we could all pledge to not drive one day a month and donate the cost of gas to UNICEF or Feed the Children. That would reduce greenhouse gases and save children. They are not mutually exclusive. You CAN care about both!

Great question by the way.
