You probably spoiled your dog too much. I know your like HUH? I spoiled my dog so much she thinks she's a human. You gotta remember your dog is a dog. Don't feed him scraps or to many treats. Also don't switch his food so much. What you can do is try buying Cesar Select Dinners for Small Dogs (doesn't really matter if your dog is small or big since your dog is relatively young) and mushing it with his regular dry food. Slowly take away a little bit of the mushy food. Hope that helped :]

Try mixing the dry with the wet food. Start with 90% wet and 10% dry and keep modifying it about 10% a week. Make sure you mix it really good so he has no choice but to eat both. Also there is dog "gravy" you can buy in a bottle that you can put it on the dry dog food. I believe Iams makes it.

Check your dogs teeth. If there is a lot of tartar and plaque build up already the dog could have sensitive teeth and gums which would lead into peridontis disease. This can be fixed by a simple cleaning at the vet or if your dog allows you can scrape it off yourself with dental tools. Just don't let the dog swallow the tartar and plaque. Dogs, regardless of breed, are natural hunters and most have to work for their food. Try placing the bits in a toy and feeding him that way or do obedience training with him before feeding him. I would not recomend using wet food for the simple fact that your dog will only continue to demand it. Dogs can go for a week without food safely. He will eventually eat when he is hungry enough. It sounds harsh but you have to think of it as pack hunting. The mother dog would not continue to hunt for the sake of a pups prference she would hunt what is available and the pup would be forced to eat it. As for switching foods make sure you are providing your dog with a healthful type of food. You can do this by looking at the ingredients. If the first ingredienct is a meat product is should be okay. If it is brewers rice or cornmeal get rid of it. I recommend Maximum Nutrition. You can buy it at Walmart.

STOP changing his food!!Also are you feeding him wet food?? Because if you aren't, and he is not eating at all, it is bad for him. My dog does the same thing once in a while...he just stops eating his dry dog food and then a couple of days later he scarfs it down, and show your dog the food abd s ay something like "I'm gonna get your food" and run into where his food is.

This might be because he was not with his mother long enough, or maybe he just doesn't like dry food. My nanas dog hates it, wet food is jus the same just look on the back of the packet for nutrients and vitamins. If that doesn't work, I suggest going to see a vet about it.

both my german shepherds were picky eaters as puppies. they didn't eat their dry food and would always beg, and you're right. dry food is much better for them. wet food will give them cavities and gingivitis. you can't give him a whole bunch of excess treats and wet food to encourage him to eat his dry food otherwise he'll expect that every time before he eats. you just have to show him his bowl of food and not give him anything else. the dog will come to his senses and eat within a few days if it is extremely picky because it won't starve itself to death, unless if your poochy is ill. if you really want to give him some wet food, just crack an egg in his bowl. it's much cheaper than canned food and my dogs like it just the same.

some dogs dont eat dry food. maybe the food your giving him is too big for him to chew or maybe its that dog food you get at the dollar tree that is hard for him to digest. Maybe he's just a picky eater. and who gave you "its better for them" about dry food vs wet? try mixing wet food with dry, maybe that will work(am i saying maybe too much!?).

get premium dog food..Iams is one.....measure his meals...get on a feeding schedule....when it's meal time, set the food down, if he sniffs and walks away, put the food away until next feeding.....continue this routine....A healthy dog will not starve itself....if the food makes him throw up or some other sickness then of course change otherwise eventually he will eat.....this may last 2 to 3 days......make sure always plenty fresh water for the brat...

i found that with my dogs pouring a little warm broth over his dry food gives it more taste and alternate between dry and canned food.
