No, you didn't misread it.

I'm concerned that after God allowed rape, child abuse (asking Abraham to kill his son) murder... Well let's be clear he didn't just allow it. He basically ordered the genocide of several peoples in the bible - men women and children slaughtered.

Who does God ask to be forgiven for these disgusting crimes?

Many people seem to be saying that God is above morality - 'do what I say dont do what I do' shall be the whole of the law, yes?

No wonder theists sink so low. They have a terrible role model. I want to hear just one good answer from a theist.

gagesmomm - Yes I finished the Abraham story - why dont you take your child tie them to a rock and prepare to stab them to death - then say 'its ok god changed his mind' and see if everyone would say you've done nothing wrong. You must think child abuse is holy. You people disgust me.

'gods ways are higher than ours'? Untrue. God is morally despicable. Any decent person could do a better job than him. How can even the ignorant theists feel such a disgusting ignoramus has the right to judge them?

I am 48 years old and I struggled with this question my entire
adult life. I've argued this point with several Christians and non
Christians. It is a paradox, an unsolvable riddle. A god that claims love to be at his core, but ALLOWS, unspeakable cruilty
in this life and the suffering of billions in hell in the unforgivens
afterlife, damnation torment. I come to the same conclusion as you. WHO WILL FORGIVE GOD--answer--NO ONE!

For one thing, asking Abraham to SACRIFICE his son was a test and God never allowed him to do it. Secondly, seeing that God (in the Christian sense I'm assuming you're talking about) always had a reason for his commands. Yes, I know that a murderer in today's society has a reason for doing it. But, seeing as how God is the Creator of the universe and everything in it, He has the ability to give commandments and expect them to be followed.
Also, everything happens for a reason. For example, God ordered the Israelites to fight and kill the Canaanites. The reason for that was, the land the Canaanites possessed was to be the Promised Land. The Canaanites were not under God's Protection as the Israelites were because they worshiped idols instead of God.
Third, of all when God ordered his people to kill another tribe it was for the punishment that God had had Promised the other tribes if they chose to follow idols instead of him. Bare in mind, all massacres were not of God. For instance when Pharaoh ordered the killing of all the babies in Egypt and Herod ordered the killing of all boys under 2 years old, these were acts of the Devil trying to destroy the promised deliver (Moses and Jesus respectively).
Does this help answer your question? If you have any others please feel free to IM me.

We are told we are to love God more than our family and kids. He asked Abraham to prove his love to Him by killing his only son. Abraham proved his love. He also learned just how God would feel as His Son was slaughter for his sins. In the end God did not allow this to happen.

To understand why other killings were ordered one would have to have a good knowledge of generational sin. God knew that the generational sins of various nations would eventually make there way into the Israelite homes. And they did when people of pagan nations were accepted into Israel unconverted from their sinfulness.

God has not given the orders to do rape, child abuse etc. He allows those things to occur for a purpose. One being so we can gain a full knowledge of sin and learn to hate it. What good would it do man to go to heaven if he didn't hate sin and it's cancerous infestations? We would end up bringing that sin right into our heavenly homes.

We could never understand sin and its out come if we didn't witness it for our selves. Also there are other worlds watching this drama here as well as the heavenly angels that remained faithful to God. God has the awesome job of showing the universe that His decisions and ways are right. He has proved His poing

God didn't ask to be forgiven of these crimes. You really need to read this portion of the Bible a little better than you just did. God was testing Abraham against the devil and because the town was not following God it made him angry and he wiped them out. People like you disgust me, you like to talk a bunch of jibber jabble when you don't even take the time to really read and understand what you are reading. Instead you like to pick apart the word of God and twist the words into your own liking to make it look more realistic in your eyes. One day your eyes will be opened to the truth...lets see you talk your way around it then.

He needs no forgiveness, as He is sinless, and blameless.
Did you finish the Abraham story?? Cuz he didn't kill Isaac.
The people were killed because of their refusal to repent.
You may think you're very clever right now- but I don't think you'll be laughing anymore when it's judgment day.
EDIT***
wow- are you ignorant!! Of course I don't think CHild Abuse is holy. That was in the old testament, as a test of Abrahams trust in the Lord- they no longer need to sacrifice as Jesus gave his own life- to take away all of our sins. Even arrogant, ignorant people like you.

God is the ultimate authority and judge. He doesn't need to ask forgiveness, because He does no wrong. There are reasons for what He does. So will He ask forgiveness for those that He is forced to send to Hell, No. This is for the punishment of sin. We are all accountable, and all have access to the truth. If the ones in the O.T.
hadn't followed idols, but the True God, their lives would have been spared.

No one. God is God. His ways are higher than ours consequently we do not understand the reason for or behind every event.

Any man can do a better job than God?...then why is this world - which is led by men - in such a poor state? Why isn't anyone doing a better Job?

We have come to this material creation to suffer or enjoy our pious or criminal activities. We have come here due to our desires to be independent from God. Is not His desire nor does He order crimes. This world is compare to a prison house, who is Innocent in there? we all criminals. We are committing crimes life after life, and life after life we are been punished. If i kill a child in the womb, i must be kill in the womb in my next birth. That is the law of nature. God is aloof, He is not directly giving orders to be punish for our crimes. The law of nature are acting upon us, like old age, nobody can stop it, that is law, nobody can avoid it. Similarly, we may not remember our past crimes in previous lives, but remember or not, we have to suffer. I know is cruel, if i see some child is going to rape, or you see it, we will try our best to stop it. But we should know that this child, also raped some one in his previous life. God is not directly acting but He protects the surrender soul. Like if a criminal ask to the judge to be forgiven, the judge may reduce his punishment for his crimes.

God doesn't call sin in the world. We do it to ourselves because of free will! God called Abraham to test his face, and you know he told him not to do it after Abrahaam got to the alter? God doesn't do any of the nasty things in our world. God is sad to see it. But, he sent us Christians to come and save the world!

I hope that answers your question!
