I've tried many, many different types of low fat spread, margarine and butter. The spread and margarine make me heave. I'll stick to Lurpak spreadable. £1.94 for 500g. Once you try this, everything else is just pants!

I've tried buying low fat spreads because butter is so high in fat and people told me I'd get used to it. However, I've since discovered this is all lies and NOTHING TASTES AS GOOD AS BUTTER! I'd rather have a little of what I fancy than something I just don't like the taste of.

I always buy salted and unsalted butters to use as required.
Wouldn't touch margarine or the so-called "olive oil" spreads with a ten foot pole (you can't "spread" olive oil, unless mixed with hydrogenated fats).

In my recipes I use real butter. Nothing else can take its place.

I also use Smart Balance (which tastes - close to butter), and I use olive oil for sauteeing.

Some of the ingredients in margerine are unnatural and contain just as many calories as real butter.

If you are not watching your cholesterol - I recommend using butter in moderation. If you are trying to eat healthier - try Smart Balance.

Bon appetit!

Butter, which I warm to room temp. and then mix a little olive oil in. Then you can keep it in the fridge and it still spreads easily. Because it tastes best, and little goes a long way, flavor wise.

I go for the healthiest option, then the best tasting of those healthier ones.

I used to buy light butter, but it just doesn't work well for sauteeing or baking, so I buy the full fat version now. But I only buy store brand or whatever's on sale for 2 for 1.

I'm cheap.

I buy both! Butter is nicer but hard to spread from the fridge and spread is unpleasant but easy to spread.

Chuck Norris can believe it's not butter!

I buy low fat olive spread because I live with a complete health nut, but what i'd really like to buy is real butter, it tastes so much nicer
