the situation is kind of weird....

my sister first got here in USA and got a SSN in 2004, she first came here as an international student in yale but somehow the VISA was issued to her as yale univ. as her employor.

anyway, an year later she returned to Taiwan and leave all relavent bills etc. for me to follow...she gave me all her information in case some phone calls i need to made for her...she even changed her mailing address to mine.....last year, we rent an apartment while she was here visiting me and we ran her credit report and the score was pretty good around 730 something. the apartment we rent required pretty high credit score and I personally didn't think she'd pass and we were start looking other one but surprisingly, 730!! but I always have a question mark in my mind since I know when I first came to united states, it took me over 3 years to build up my credit but even I didn't have any bad credits at that time, I only scored below 550 since I was considered "NO CREDIT"

Recently i'm thinking leasing a car under her name so I finally pick up her credit report and take a deep look at it. I found a description saying her name AKA someone else, and her report history was dated since 97' not 04'. so I asked her and she said she doesn't recognize that name.

Well, I can either call credit breaue and probably get rid of other person's records but thing is i don't think that person intentionally use my sis's identity but the mess up caused by authorities since that person even paid off $25,000 loan but why left a $270 unpaid phone bill i don't know. And since 2004, all the records are belonged to my sister. Everything is paid off except that $270 phone bill.

If I call to clear that up, i'm afraid that might lower her score since i don't think her plain history will go near 730. what do you guys think?? I need advices please.

730 will save me a lot of $$$ on car leasing deal....I don't know if i wanna make that call before i get a car. what can i do lord?? my sister said she doesn't care about lowering her score since that desn't belong to her and she's not gonna buy a car or a house in the near future so she doesn't care about score but she certainly does not want to see a mess up on her credit report.

No Credit is often worse than BAD credit. Creditors look at your ability to make purchases and timely payments, no matter what the amount as long as you don't fall behind or go into collections.
Basically, credit is like being responsible for your money. When you were a child, no need to worry about those things. The credit Bureaus are there to monitor your spending habits vs. your income. your sister may have gotten a few credit cards and paid them off immediately instead of making the minimum payment. This is the quickest way to increase your credit score.

You cant lease a car in her name anyways-- she has to cosign and be there with you.

You're trying to profit off of a mistake. If you only have a 550 there's a reason for it and you need to improve your credit, not scam off a mistake.

but for what its worth-- all you have to do is an online dispute of just the bad debt. They wont look into the others unless you dispute them too.

It must be your twin sister id you can use her id. You must provide a driver's license. What you are doing is illegal anyway. Use your own credit and build it up. You will come out much better in the long run. When your sister gets ready to use her credit, hers will be greater, thanks to you and a mix up and your will still be low due to the fact that you are not "buying" anything for years in your name. Build your own credit and you will be much better off

No I think it's just someone that has a similar name to his and Experian computers is matching it to yours. Yea contact Experian but I'd run Transunion and see what comes up on that one. Good Luck (you may need it)
