People have been saying it for two millenia and all of them, without exception have been wrong.

It only sounds nuts if you don't know about it. Although people have always thought we are in the end times, one generation really will be. No-one knows the date this will happen so if anyone gives you a time and date then they are almost certainly wrong but there are some clues such as wars and rumours of wars, an increase of natural disasters and the climate going crazy. The first thing that will happen is that those who are saved will vanish, they will be taken off the Earth so they don't have to suffer what the rest of the world will suffer. There will be plagues, and death. A third of the population will die. A 'star' called Wormwood (incidently, the Russian word for wormwood is Chernovil) will fall to Earth, poisoning a third of the Earth's seas and rivers (Chernovil practically did that when it blew). The antiChrist will rise to power through international politics and he will outlaw belief in Christ (it's PC to believe in practically everything except Christ, these days) surreptitiously. Eventually, everyone will have to take the mark - it may be like a bar code thinking about it, back of the hand or even on the forehead (it's easier to read folks, forget about iris recognition, that might damage your eyes, this is better for everyone - a future selling campaign?). If you don't take the mark, you won't be able to buy or sell. But don't worry, I've read the last page and we win. The antiChrist comes to a very nasty end.

First, it will not be the end of time. Jesus is to reign for 1000 years. After a short time we will be in heaven and be in eternity forever and ever.
The mark of the beast is a mark on your forehead or right hand. To my knowledge no one knows what the mark will be. The Bible does say that no one will be able to buy or sell without the mark of the Beast. The 666 number is the number of the Beast. He will be identified by this number of a man.
18 Wisdom is needed to understand this. Let the one who has understanding solve the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man.* His number is 666.*
Holy Bible : New Living Translation. 1997 . Tyndale House: Wheaton, Ill.
The mark of the beast is mentioned in Revelation 14:11
11 The smoke of their torment rises forever and ever, and they will have no relief day or night, for they have worshiped the beast and his statue and have accepted the mark of his name.
Holy Bible : New Living Translation. 1997 . Tyndale House: Wheaton, Ill.
All these questions are in Revelation and It would interest you if you read it. It only has 22 chapters and is very informative about the questions you asked.
Your interest is commended.
God Bess You :)

The mark of the beast is not a literal mark. If it were the seal of God would also be.
The mark is our character and our desires. If we do not follow the bible and it's teachings and keep the commandments of God we are open game for the mark of the beast. The mark of the beast is mentioned in several chapters of Revelation.
The seal of God is mentioned as being on the fore head of God's pople. This is because the people of God have developed the mind and character of God.
The mark of the beast is said to be in the hand and forehead of those that follow the beast. That is because there will be some that believe the truth but deliberately do evil out of fear for their lives (these would include the true followers of satan((mark on forhead)) and those that try to compromise to save their skin).
I am sure there will be in the end a way to determine for sure who is who. As we come more and more into a cashless society ways are opened for that to work out. Like a compulsory bank card. Those who receive the mark will be able to use their card and those that haven't will not.

The Bible supports the fact that in the end times there will be devastation including earthquakes, hurricanes, tsunamis, tornados,& volcanos and as you know if you watch the news these things are happening all over the earth... To learn more about the mark of the beast you should read the Bible and the book of Revalation.... All you really need to know to be safe is that Jesus died on the cross for you and He rose from the dead three days later and ascended to Heaven where he waits for us till this day he is preparing a place for us... If you beleive this and confess it you will be saved and then live your life accordingly

There is a great deal of interest today in the subject of our Lord's return. I believe that this divinely predicted event may well happen soon; and I am constantly urging believers to obey the scriptural injunction that "teaches us to say 'No' to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope—the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ" (Titus 2:12-13). At the same time, I am also aware that the Lord's return may be thousands of years away. The Bible says that "with the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day" (2 Peter 3:8).
While there are indications that we may be approaching a crisis in history, and biblical descriptions of the last days fit our times, it would be unwise to make any prediction about the exact time of Christ's return. When on earth, Jesus said, "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father" (Matthew 24:36). The important thing is that we should be ready for His coming: "Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour" (Matthew 25:13). Read also 1 Thessalonians 5:1-11 and 2 Peter 3:3-15.
The Book of Revelation can be confusing to the modern reader because much of it was written using a symbolic style of language that is not used today. Sincere Bible scholars, in fact, disagree about the meaning of some of the symbolic passages. But that should not keep us from reading it and understanding its main message.
The key for the reader is to try to see beyond the details to the main themes, which are tremendous truths. For example, the book of Revelation underlines the fact that this world is doomed, and our hope must never be in this world or its political systems and philosophies. It also points us to the great truth that some day God through Christ will triumph over death and evil, and Satan will be utterly defeated.
The Book of Revelation emphasizes that Christ will come again some day in great glory to establish His Kingdom of perfect justice and righteousness, "and he will reign for ever and ever" (Revelation 11:15). Some day those who know Christ will be secure forever in Heaven, and "there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away" (Revelation 21:4).
Most of all, the Book of Revelation (like all of the Bible) points us to Christ. He is the Savior and Lord of all who trust in Him, and some day we will see Him face to face. Are you ready for that day? You can be, by repenting of your sin and giving your life by faith to Christ today.

The mark of the beast is what you are refering to. If you accept the mark of the beast then it is possible that you are accepting Satans soverignity over earth. By rejecting the mark you would be accepting (In Faith) that Jesus Christ is Lord of all and that He died at the Cross on Calvary for the Cleansing of all of your sins. thus accepting that Jesus will bring you through any hardship. Trust in the Lod Jesus Christ and he will never leave you nor forsake you.
The signs and events that are happening in the worrld today are all foretold in the Holy Bible, and most 'Bible Believing' Christians would say that they are living in the 'End Times'.

Too complex to answer here. The Revelation (from where the 666 comes) was a pamphlet of an underground, persecuted Church. There is much symbolism here.

naysayers will say ' there have always been these signs' . But Jesus said when ALL (not some) of these signs come to pass, you'll know the time is near'
Just look at the daily newspaper for several signs. Particularly in the middle east.

Confucius believed that social disorder resulted from failing to call things by their proper names. I think that this is most true when it comes to works written in the Jewish Haggadic and Apocalyptic styles (as is found throughout the Old and New Testaments, especially in passages containing prophecy like Revelations). So much is worded to leave the content with open ends. Horoscopes and Fortune Cookies are sometimes written in this way. It gets even worse when those styles are translated because the translator is forced to choose words either more generalized or specific, in order to make the understanding behind the words clear in the new translation. Take into account that religious works are most often used as tools of social construction and control, and the actual purpose of the work gets bent to all kinds of purposes.
If you decide the "world" means a globe in space full of people and other life, then you have a drastically overblown understanding of what the word "world" means compared to the persons who wrote about the end of the world 2000 years ago. I can only imagine that what a world was then was made of much smaller things determined by much simpler understandings. A "world" can be six acres and a family that doesn't get out much just as much as it can mean the world we recognize now.
Now, as for your central question about a mark of the beast, "marks" have always been used for commerce. They are worn, spoken (as in terms of Shibboleths), gestured (as a handshake), or any number and combination that is used during business. Wearing a shirt and shoes is one form of a "mark" that must be worn to buy and sell hamburgers. Anyone looking at the trends of humanity with a good understanding of how people behave could predict that eventually in any understanding of the term "world" you will find that there will be one best "mark" that everyone in that setting will have to have in order to exchange goods. That it was written that way indicates a very good use of Apocalyptic writing style (perhaps if it was written today they would have used MLA or APA to have written it, "sic").
Today, our mark is the dollar or the debit card,( with top and proper footwear). That's just here in America. Other places have other currency.
"666"? That goes more into Apocalyptic writing as a style. Vagueness and symbolic (or numerical) reference is the herald of this writing style. Similar to Haggadic writing style, content is understood and talked about rather then specified. If you aren't from the "in" crowd that knows the "in" meanings, then reading it can leave you with a lot of holes that can get filled by people trying to use it for their own purposes. (See also "Innuendo", "Inference", or "Logos ; )"
So are we living in the end of times? Yes we are. Now, "End" means coming to a close and "times" means that those of us breathing have been living long enough for a single person to think they know what is going on and what is important. And sadly- Yes, you are dying. When you are dead, that is the end of your world. Also, sorry to say it, you already have to have a mark on you to buy and sell goods. You call it paper cash money, {supported by either asset-backed securities, or fractional reserve lending capital (debt-based resources)} and either your citizenship, work visa, or business license. You need the first to buy and the others to sell. When the "world" gets much smaller it will be even simpler. Don't think of those as marks? Just try and buy land with goats or daughters like in the days Revelations was written.
Now will you eventually have a mark on your wrist or neck? I have no doubt that either could be the case and when the time comes it will seem like a good idea to everyone but the small-world families that don't get out much from the compound. Think of the social disorder that will cause, all those religious zealots running around buying up land and wells with daughters and goats to protect themselves from the coming of the end. Oh, wait- I think there are some are already doing that in Utah.
So, are we living in the end of time? Always.
Now...where can I get one of those wrist-marks that will make buy &selling so much simpler? I can hardly wait. One question though, will it work with Ebay? I've got a few dozen goats I need to get rid of.
If I could suggest, perhaps your "x" was talking about you guys ending your relationship and not so much what she thought the Bible was trying to tell us about the returning of the Savior Christ. "End times" sounds awfully suggestive to me about what she was thinking of when she was talking to you...Did you see it coming?

it is true the mark of the beast is the number of a man and it is 666. but satin is to intelligent to use anything physical as a mark . No tattoos or micro chips. The mark of the beast is just your actions and cooperation with him in trying to convert people into believing that he is the Christ .That is why it is written that father will turn over son, mother will turn over daughter to death. Satan is the death that they will turn them over to to be converted into believing he is Christ. The mark on your forehead are those who use their brain to help think up Satan's plan and the mark on your hand denotes that you are help carrying out Satan's plan
so there aren't actually marks on your forehead or your hand.
