The following link will show you all of the branchs and their associated rank structure. The rank insignia follow the same basic pattern from branch to branch but the titles differ. You also need to realize that there is a difference between the commissioned officers, warrant officers, and enlisted

An officer holds rank precedence over any enlisted soldier but most junior officers, 0-1 through newly appointed 0-3, will break with standard military protocol when dealing with a senior enlisted E-9. This is because they realize that an enlisted soldier that has achieved this rank has many, many years of experience and has earned the respect of their peers.

Rank structure varies somewhat between the services, but in the U.S. Air Force, from bottom to top, it goes;
Enlisted ranks -
Airman Basic (E1, no stripe); Airman (E2, 1 stripe); Airman 1st class (E3, 2 stripes); Senior Airman (E4, 3 stripes); Staff Sergeant (E5, 4 stripes); Technical Sergeant (E6, 5 stripes); Master Sergeant (E7, 6 stripes); Senior Master Sergeant (E8, 7 stripes); Chief Master Sergeant (E9, 8 stripes)
Officer ranks -
2nd Lieutenant (1 gold bar); 1st Lieutenant (1 silver bar); Captain (2 silver bars); Major (gold oak leaf cluster), Lieutenant Colonel (silver oak leaf cluster); Colonel (silver eagle); Brigadier General (1 star); Major General (2 stars); Lieutenant General (3 stars); General (4 stars). Officer ranks are the same in the Air Force, Army, & Marines. The Navy does it a little differently.
