Panic attacks can vary widely in severity.I've had some where I had to go to the E.R. because I quit breathing and others where I just start shaking and have to leave the place I'm in quickly.Anxiety and depression can be "endogenous" or "reactive" Endodenous is a chemical imbalance in the brain and needs medication and reactive is in response to trauma or stressors and therapy can help with that. But most depressions are a combination of both, anxiety problems too. I don't think they ever go away on thier own. Does diabetis or high blood pressure just go away ?It's an illness just the same and should be treated as such. There is no weakness in having an illness ! It's not a sign of personal failure to have an illness ! Would you be ashamed if you got cancer ? Good Luck ! Get Help !

My husband was having anxiety/panic attacks so bad that he went to the ER 3 times in less than 1 year thinking he was having a heart attack. I've had panic & anxiety attacks for 19 years so I knew all the symptoms & kept trying to tell him what it was.... Eventually he went to a cardiologist, had a stress test, his heart is perfectly fine. He's been diagnosed with depression, anxiety & panic disorder. He's taking lexapro and klonopin and they help tremendously.
Having said that, I should say that if you ever experience chest pains you should go to the ER!
The symptoms of a panic attack can be severe, shortness of breath & pains in the chest, arm & face along with other symptoms.

Yes, the severity of panic attacks can vary. I'm sorry, I don't understand the rest of your question. I suggest you see a professional. I like psychologist better than psychiatrist because, the psychologist depends on talk therapy, while the psychiatrists depends more on drugs.

There are different levels of attacks, anxiety and depression.
If acute it will not go away, on its own. Other then it will pass, time heals all if the person can survive the severity.
